"I have learned so much from studying abroad, both classroom and real-world knowledge. It was such an amazing experience that it is difficult to put it into words. It was totally worthwhile."
A student Wellesley College
"It was definitely a worthwhile experience, but ONLY because my school stepped in and moved me to a different program. If I was stuck with the AKP, it would have been the most scarring and miserable academic year of my life."
Nichole B Wellesley College
"I learned a ton more Spanish, and travelling was fantastic. I also learned a good deal in my courses. Definitely worthwhile."
Haley R Wellesley College
"travel was great, definitely recommend it. i recommend staying the whole year, half a year isnt enough to get to know the city and settle in."
A student Wellesley College
"I learned so much more about the public health system, and I honestly miss it very much. It was super informative because we got to meet and understand the positions of different stakeholders in the public health sector, look at how healthcare affects different populations of people, and so much more! I learned to be a better gl..."
KATHLEEN T Wellesley College
"It was absolutely worthwhile, I learned a lot of things about myself, confronted a lot of personal struggles, and this experience also helped me figure out my future plans."
Chelsea A S Wellesley College
"I did learn a lot through my own efforts and it was worthwhile because I had never lived abroad for a year. But I could have had that on any program or on a gap year with my own money."
Elin N Wellesley College
"I gained so much appreciation for public policy on health and the impacts that such could have on communities worldwide. I also learned so much about each country and all the cultures we encountered. It was definitely a worthwhile experience."
Carla M V Wellesley College
"I gained so much from this experience and again do not regret it. It was extremely valuable. The administration could have been different, but that does not change the fact that my experience in Brazil was more than worthwhile. "
A student Wellesley College
"I love being in London for a year! It was AWESOME! There are lots of opportunities, so many attractions and the city itself is so diverse! I absolutely loved it and would study abroad all over again if I could! Also, the Study-Abroad administrator for SOAS - Sophie - was great and always helpful with everything!"
A student Wellesley College
"I gained a ton of independence that I didn't have before. I also increased my love of travel and my appreciation of other cultures. It was extremely worthwhile. "
A student Wellesley College
"I gained an entirely new perspective on life and the world around me. Living as a foreigner for an entire year was a very valuable life experience that taught me to think in new ways, made me more of a global citizen, and helped me grow into a confident and considerate young adult. "
A student Wellesley College
"Best experience of my whole life. Better student, better person. I'm more in touch with my interests--both academically and what I would like to do with my life. Learned so much but also had a better work/social balance. So worthwhile, wish I could be there now and forever!"
A student Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about myself, and what I am capable of by pushing outside of my comfort zone. It was definitely worthwhile and an experience I will never forget."
A student Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about myself and definitely grew up a little bit. I loved it, and I wish I didn't have to leave. It was definitely worth while. I made amazing friends and got to travel around Europe. London is such a great city and I hope I can go back one day to visit."
A student Wellesley College

A student Wellesley College
"I learned how to be a bit more flexible and take risks with my work because I had to-- I didn't know what the tutors wanted and even after they commented on one paper, it wasn't often very applicable to the next beyond a few general things (length etc.) so I just had to go off, read like crazy, come up with something and learn t..."
A student Wellesley College
"Absolutely, I learned what it was like to live in a non-western, Muslim country."
A student Wellesley College
"This past semester at DIS was a truly life-changing experience for me. I learned a lot about myself and the world. DIS stresses the point that the best experiences will happen outside of your comfort some, and they could not have been more right. I was challenged in so many ways, but had the time of my life through it all."
A student Wellesley College
"My German became much more fluent. I also learned about the nuances of German culture, and was able to talk to many interesting people. It was most definitely worthwhile."
A student Wellesley College
"My German did improve noticeably, but I think the most significant development I saw in myself was increased confidence and independence. That's very common in study abroad programs, and it probably would have happened elsewhere, but all I can say for sure is that it did happen in Berlin. Berlin was not my top choice of city, an..."
Wellesley'13 Wellesley College
"It was absolutely worthwhile. I learned an immearsuable amount about ancient history and topography and increased my knowledge in Greek and Latin. I also learned how to navigate Rome."
A student Wellesley College
"It was definitely worthwhile. I'd never been out of the US before and always wanted to go abroad. That alone makes the experience worthwhile. I gained a better understanding of not only English culture, which is useful to my major, but also a better understanding of Europe in general. "
