"Yes and no. If I had been able to go to Syria, I think I would've found it to be a much more fulfilling experience, but then the grass is always greener. At the very least, I wish I had only done one semester here and gone elsewhere for my second semester abroad. My understanding of the Middle East as a region is much more compr..."

"I definitely grew a lot as a student and sharpened my writing, research, and analytical abilities a great deal. I learned more about how I work best and what areas I need to improve, like managing and structuring my own time. I also gained a lot of insight into not just other cultures (and how they organize their societies, huge..."

"It was completely worthwhile. I learned how to be more independent and I loved living in Athens. I met some interesting new people and I adored having a very different experience from Wellesley, where most of my education occurred outside the classroom."

"I improved my Spanish, made wonderful friends, and got to know the Spanish culture in a way I could not have simply from vacationing. It was definitely worth it. "
A student Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about Spain, Spanish culture, and myself. It was really great to be immersed in the culture, and I was really able to improve my Spanish. I was able to live in a different country without problems, and now I can't wait to go back in the future!"

"My conversational Russian improved a lot, as well as my ability to talk about academic topics like art, literature, and history. In addition to that, Moscow is a magnificent (if expensive) city, and I'm already homesick to go back!"
A student Wellesley College
"I learned a lot in my classes that will be useful for my major. I gained a lot of good friends and experiences. I do think it was worthwhile because I did experience so much, good and bad. I would pick a different program in the end for better support, but I wouldn't pick different peers or country."

"I feel confident in my ability to survive in any place. Basically no one spoke english and I did not speak hungarian but it was still very fun and there were no major disasters! "
A student Wellesley College
"The ability to adapt to new and sometimes scary situations. The ability to communicate with almost everyone in a foreign language with increased fluency and ease. I fell in love with France and want to work/live there when I graduate. Yes it was worthwhile! "

"My time abroad was very worthwhile. I learned so much about myself and also about a different culture. I was able to do fieldwork and clinical work that I would not have ever been able to do in the United States. I met some of the most amazing people and learned so much from them. Also, my Spanish improved which is nice."

A student Wellesley College
"I learned how to teach myself, as learning was very personal, not interactive, at SOAS. I learned how to take advantage of the city I was in and all it had to offer.I learned how to travel effectively and use the knowledge I gained in my studies elsewhere. I learned how to deal with difficult people to live with. "
A student Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about my own personal skills and interests, and how to use the training I received in the future."
A student Wellesley College
"It was worthwhile. I've learned that being independent doesn't necessarily mean that you can exist without social interaction. And as much as an 'easy A' in academics might seem nice, it gets quite boring after a while."

A student Wellesley College
