"I very quickly had to adapt to the pace of London, which took the development of many new habits and unlearning of old ones. Very importantly, I had to learn how to connect (and reconnect) with the people around me, whether that was in classes, in my dorm, or with complete strangers at random, I found the people I met to be the ..."

"I gained new friends, new sights, new ways to make myself feel at home, love for travel and new perspectives about the world. Coming into the experience, I prioritized my academics, but while there were enriching academic experiences, there was also so much adventure and wondrous nature views abound. Definitely worthwhile."
A student Wellesley College
"The first thing I learned was that I can travel away from my problems, haha. I learned that I need to do whatever I can do to (reach out to the Care Team, friends, family) to get out my discouragement and reach my goals for studying abroad."
A student Wellesley College
"Although there is no foreign language involved, the whole living and academic environment is completely different. It would be totally worth it to spend a semester or even a year experiencing it."
Wenyu C Wellesley College

Vivi J Wellesley College
"I learned how to live on my own, take care of my own administrative tasks, and find fun things to do while being pretty alone most of the time. I did get an internship in international affairs in Europe for the summer, partially because the organization I applied to was familiar with IHEID. So that was a big plus. Lastly, I had ..."

"Academically, I learned a lot about linguistics in French and the varieties of French, which was pretty interesting. I also was able to learn more of the colloquial French expressions, which were definitely more useful in talking in French than the literary analysis I was used to doing for my usual French classes. I was also abl..."

"becoming more independent meeting people from the UK and local students"
A student Wellesley College
"I think the main thing I learned was resilience. I was (unknowingly) struggling with mono during my entire four months, but still had an experience of a lifetime. It was definitely worthwhile as I have since returned to Manchester to visit someone for a month, and plan to return again within the year. "
A student Wellesley College
"I learned about being independent, mature, and how to communicate with a language barrier. "
A student Wellesley College
"Although I experienced a lot of inconveniences in Geneva, from the housing administration to the Cantonal Population and Migration Office, the program gave me exposure to international organizations and development studies, which I otherwise would not have received. I also learned how to live independently. "
A student Wellesley College
"It was so worthwhile! My French skills improved so much, I had very independent experiences, I was able to travel a lot within France/Europe, and I loved my host family."
A student Wellesley College

Liora J Wellesley College
"I feel like I learned a lot socially because it definitely is a unique social situation. Overall I wish there was more focus on the things that the program advertised but I did have a really good time and felt like I ultimately learned a lot"
A student Wellesley College
"I gained a lot more cultural, social, and political awareness of France while I was abroad. It was truly a worthwhile experience to be able to explore Paris and get to know the city."
A student Wellesley College
"Cooking for myself, trip planning, biking, and yes!"
A student Wellesley College
"I learned how to be an adult. Not only have I taken these skills back home with me, but it made me realize how much easier adulting would be than I realized. It could be fun and is not as scary as some may think it to be. Being "alone" in Spain allowed me to really hone my social skills and start making friends from "scratch." "
Emma S Wellesley College
"I gained so much insight about myself and the way I interact in situations where I don't know the native language. I got pushed out of my comfort zone so many times but the experience showed me I could face any situation I was given."
MaKenzie C Wellesley College
"Going to Dublin was, without doubt, the best decision of my life. I learned so much about myself and was able to find an incredibly loving community of friends abroad."
A student Wellesley College
"Studying abroad showed me how big the world truly can be. It provided so many new experiences and showed me previously unknown opportunities. "
A student Wellesley College
"I gained lots of independence and I think it was worthwhile for that reason."
A student Wellesley College
"Learned about the differences between the US and the UK"
Isabella L Wellesley College
"It was definitely worthwhile!! I learned how to build a community of like-minded friends and peers even in a space where I know nearly no one. My experience at Spelman showed me that I can thrive in a new environment. Definitely go for the entire year if you can, and if not, go during the fall - that's the more fun semester acc..."
