Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

You will learn a lot about different habitat and how to manage them. I know understand a lot more about peat bogs, grasslands, and woodlands including different flora and fauna and to effectively manage each one. This program is not intense but is very pracitcal and you will learn a lot of information without even realizing!

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Very willing to help if we need medicine or answer any over our questions if we wanted to travel anywhere else in the country.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

You have your own room and bathroom which is nice. But bring an alarm clock! They do not provide a clock.

* Food:

There kitchen was getting remodled when we were doing our program so the food was just average.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We can walk to the local village that has pubs and small convient stores. Everyone local was really friendly and nice. Also, before the Scottish students left for summer it was really cool to talk to them and compare the different cultures. Also, the instructors will take you to see different castles and ancient neolithic sites!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Made accomodations for vegetatians and gluten free people in the program. Also, a girl was lactose in tolerant and the instructors took her to find pills in the neighboring town.

* Safety:

I have never felt unsafe while on this program.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It really depends if you want to travel on you free days and how many pubs you visit. The college provides meals seven days a week so you do not have to buy food.

* Was housing included in your program cost? Yes
* Was food included in your program cost? Yes
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I bough fruit and vegetables at the store so around forty dollars max.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you want to shop or dring while studying abroad you will need more money.

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • I really like that the program is field based. There were only a couple days that were in the classroom and the rest of the time was spent traveling to different nature reserves, country parks, and cultural sites.
* What could be improved?
  • This was the first year of the program so giving specific instructions on the course work the first day.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? That I would need to bring an alarm clock.
