Scotland Past Review
By Sean B (Parks and Recreation Facilities Management, University of Arkansas - Fayetteville) - abroad from 05/26/2015 to 06/19/2015 with
Adelante: Edinburgh - Ecological Conservation Summer Program in Scotland
I gained a lot of field experience form bird ringing, to electric fishing, to measuring peat bogs. The experience is worthwhile and a great time.

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The field experience outweighs in class time, and was a wonderful experience. |

On-site administration of your program |
Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Very fun and kind people to be around |
* Housing:

Living arrangements are comfortable. We were assigned to our own rooms which was nice when you wanted privacy. |
* Food: |
Carbs. Lots of carbs, but overall the food was pretty good. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I was able to find out where my ancestors were from in Scotland. The culture here is unique and beautiful. The accents are amazing. |
* Health Care:

I had no issues with my health while on the trip. (besides maybe a hangover form the pub) |
* Safety: |
The campus is safe, and the people are very patient if asking for directions. |

Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
It would be easy to live on a student budget, however, I like food, and I like souvenirs. I would say bring a little extra money, you're in Scotland for Christ sakes, splurge. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $250-300 on average |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Don't get wrapped up in all of the trinkets on the royal mile when you first visit Edinburgh. You have time to find the best deals |
