I think about Dubrovnik every day and hope to get back there in my lifetime! Past Review

API (Academic Programs International): Dubrovnik - Libertas International University
A lot about myself having gone to a new program without anyone from my host school, and a lot about living in a foreign country. There are many perceptions of people from the US and it takes integration and mingling to discover that many stereotypes are inflated and a bit whacky both ways.
Personal Information
| How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | None |
Review Your Program
| * Overall educational experience Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. | I'm not in any business classes in the US so taking business classes for the first time, taught by non-native speakers for the most part was difficult at times, but extremely insightful to a part of the world which I knew little able prior to studying abroad. |
| * Host Country Program Administration On-site administration of your program | Couldn't have ask for a more wonderful, welcoming administration. From day one they cared for us as though we'd been there for our whole lives. |
| * Housing: How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? | The apartments were incredible. Best view of the city, really spacious, and we really got to live in the culture among locals. |
| * Food: | I miss the food so much! A lot of meats, breads, seafood and anything else really. |
| * Social & Cultural Integration: How integrated did you feel with the local culture? | I wish I had learned the language better though many students we got to know well spoke many languages fluently so it was easier for them to just speak english. |
| * Health Care: How well were health issues addressed during the program? | Pharmacy staff were very knowledgable and helpful. The hospital er also were great. The particular doctor I saw was didn't know enough english to properly help, so I went to the er which went well. |
| * Safety: | I felt safe everywhere I was in the city. At home, in the bars, on the streets, walking home etc. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? | Yes
 |
Finances
| * Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget? (1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) | It was pretty easy to eat well and not pay too much. |
| Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 20 - 60 depending on whether we ate at a restaurant, made our own food, for snacks etc. |
| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Plan well, but also make sure to try the foods and experience things which you might not have allotted for as those make the study abroad experience great. |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
| To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. | The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
