As a future medical professional, this experience left me shocked, inspired, and eager to continue pursuing medicine. I was able to observe several physicians working in extremely low resource settings, which is an experience I will never forget. Megan R - Clemson University View Entire Review

About
CFHI's program in Cape Town, South Africa offers students a unique opportunity to observe alongside healthcare professionals in an idyllic setting surrounded by Table Mountain in one of South Africa's most beautiful cities. Participants will get an opportunity to understand how the health care system has dealt with a public health crisis that has fundamentally altered the state's social and economic fabric.
Through the Healthcare Challenges program, senior level clinical students will rotate alongside physicians at Victoria Hospital, located in the southern suburbs of Cape Town in Wynberg; pre-medical students will rotate in a variety of community clinics associated with the Eerste River Hospital in the Cape Flats; nursing students will rotate in Mowbray Maternity Hospital in the Mowbray suburbs; and students in the first years of health sciences training will rotate through GF Jooste hospital. This program offers students a unique educational experience as they follow patients through their treatments and observe the entire healthcare team during the program month.
