London: Life Changing, But Slightly Frustrating Past Review
By Katie E (English/Creative Writing, Hollins University) for
Hollins University: London - Hollins in London
My experience was definitely worth it. I could have been more academically challenged, and I could have had more access for more resources, but London is an amazing city and I was thrilled to be there. I certainly hope that I can go back sometime in the future.

* Overall educational experience

I was told by several professors that, in the British educational system, giving A's to students was considered a high honor. However, I was not told this until the very end of the semester, after spending weeks trying to provide everything one of the professor's in question wanted. I understand and respect the different view(s) of the grading system, but I would have appreciated it if I had been told this information about the rare distribution of A's before this. |

Sara was an excellent program head, and went above and beyond what I personally believe was necessary to make the students settled in and comfortable. From day one to the last day, Sara was always attentive and receptive to our questions and concerns, and I really appreciate everything she did. |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Never assume that you are being given all the information. Always ask for clarification, and always address your concerns, because if you don't they won't be answered. Remember that you are in a foreign country and out of your comfort zone, and even if you strongly desire to go to a particular country, there WILL be things about it that you don't like. Don't let these things hinder your experience; do what you can to adjust and accept the disadvantages. |
