London's the most global city in the world, if it hasn't changed your perspectives on life than you didn't go out enough. All I know is that I want to move here. One day. Sana A - Hollins University View Entire Review
I learned a lot. Mara-Jewel B - Hollins University View Entire Review
I did not feel that I was exposed to "English" culture all of that much because London, like most capital cities, is so full of other foreigners like myself that I hardly ever had any contact with "real" English people. Also, it seems the bigger the city, the lonelier you are. The trips and theatre is what made it worthwhile for... Wendy L - Hollins University View Entire Review
The study abroad experience has changed my life. The London in my head was much more fantastical than realistic. Now, I have an image, and I understand that other parts of the world have the same problems and the same benefits that we do, just in different ways. It has made my world-view more solid and more supported, because no... Bethany K - Hollins University View Entire Review
I loved the city of London but the program was only average. Part of my wishes that I challenged myself a bit more and went further outside my comfort zone. I think the process of applying to study abroad was so intimidating that I didn't feel comfortable challenging myself. I wish the study abroad office encouraged me to push m... Studying abroad has changed my cultural awareness in ways that I now know and understand first hand how not everyone in the world lives like us or has any desire whatsoever to change their ways. It also got me to realize how biased public media is in America, and I find myself wishing I could read London newspapers everyday. Sin... Sarah S - Hollins University View Entire Review

It helped me see a world outside of the U.S. It also help me improve my studies greatly. Paris H - Hollins University View Entire Review
I saw a lot and learned a lot. I learned how different a culture can be from your own, even if people speak the same language. melissa h - Hollins University View Entire Review
My experience was definitely worth it. I could have been more academically challenged, and I could have had more access for more resources, but London is an amazing city and I was thrilled to be there. I certainly hope that I can go back sometime in the future. Katie E - Hollins University View Entire Review
About
Find the soul of England by living in the heart of London. For students enrolled in Hollins Abroad-London, the British capital is an extended university. With frequent field trips in every class, you'll get to know the city inside out. You'll explore British history in the British Museum, study masterpieces of modern European art in the Tate Gallery and view Shakespeare's tragedies at Stratford-upon-Avon. Qualified students may also enroll in a course at London Metropolitan University or undertake a Parliamentary or other career internship. With classroom and study space in Connaught Hall in the center of the University of London, Hollins Abroad-London's location couldn't be better. Several University of London colleges, the Student Union, the Senate House Library, and the British Museum are just steps away. The upper floors of Connaught Hall house several social spaces as well as, a student pub. Our full-time resident director, a native Londoner, provides expert advice and assistance, and also organizes group travel within the United Kingdom and to the Continent. ELIGIBILITY: Hollins Abroad London is open to Hollins students as well as students from other U.S. colleges and universities. Minimum requirements are: - Sophomore or Junior status - Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher - For LMU registration or internships: cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher & GPA of 3.0 or higher in major - Two faculty recommendation - No major disciplinary infractions ACADEMICS: Hollins Abroad-London Courses are taught by expert British faculty and include numerous field trips to museums, plays, concerts, or sites of historical and political interest. Classes are generally small and seminar-style. Assignments and grading are similar to those at Hollins, but the perspective and expectations of faculty will be somewhat different, due to their British academic training. Hollins Abroad courses are taken with Hollins Abroad program participants. Hollins Abroad-Londoners may elect to undertake an internship for credit in any one of a wide variety of settings, including Parliament, business, law, media, the arts, education, sports, and many other fields. London internships are arranged based on the student's area of interest. A separate application is required for the internship program. Interns must work 15-20 hours per week, scheduled around your Hollins Abroad classes. Grades are based on the required internship journal and supervisors' evaluations. There are also options for independent study for dance students at the London studio The Place and for studio art students at LMU and the Art Academy, and for voice students with private instructors. HOUSING & MEALS: Students can choose to live with British hosts or in the International Students House. Most students choose to live with British hosts, which gives the students the opportunity to experience British culture and British perspectives on political and social issues. Students who live with British hosts have their own house keys and are treated as independent adults. Homestays are in the residential areas of northern London with convenient connections on public transportation to Connaught Hall. A bus and tube pass is provided for students in homestays. Both double and single rooms are available. The housing coordinator matches students with hosts based on information provided by students on the housing form. All hosts are carefully screened by the program director and most of them have been with Hollins Abroad for many years, receiving excellent student evaluations. The International Students House is a residence hall complex in central London, housing students from around the world. ISH rooms are doubles. Students can choose to room with other Hollins Abroad students or with other ISH residents chosen by ISH staff. Other ISH residents may be on different academic schedules so roommates may change one or more times during the course of the semester. Students staying with British hosts have all breakfasts and three dinners per week with their hosts and receive a stipend from Hollins to cover the costs of all other meals. Students staying at International Students House receive breakfast at ISH and a stipend from Hollins for lunches.
