Overall Experience
I would definitely recommend this program to anyone who is interested in Environmental Studies or Biology; I believe those specifically interested in Ecology or the Galapagos would benefit immensely from this program. It is also a good program for those who do not want to miss a semester at their home institution by studying abr... - Tufts University View Entire Review
I did a gap year in a small village in Ecuador, so I'd already seen one side of Ecuador, and I figured that going to school at Ecuador's most prestigious/wealthy private university would be very different. It was. I came into the USFQ program thinking I was going to manage to get out of the American bubble that's so common in s... - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned so much during my time in Quito. Becoming a part of daily life in the city taught me more about how people live outside of the country than I could have ever imagined. On the other hand, I did not have the best host family experience. The accommodations were incredible but I had very high expectations of living with an... - Temple University View Entire Review
This program was just plain awesome. The classes were engaging, the field trips were incredible, and the overall experience was perfect. Quito is the capital city of Ecuador. It's a beautiful city and literally every day on my way to class I found myself gawking at the Andes Mountains. Though I was always felt a little on edge... - Indiana University - Bloomington View Entire Review
Falling in love with Quito was worth every bit of heartache along the way and every bit of heartache afterwards. As cheesy as it may sound, I learned a lot about myself - about who I am and about what my place in the world may be. A few months in, I had the revelation that I will always be Me, no matter where I am. Moving to a p... - Trinity University View Entire Review

Of course it was worthwhile! I did more in these 6 weeks than I have in my entire life it seems like. I got to see amazing nature and animals that most people will never see in their life. I was lucky enough to travel around and experience multiple destinations, from the metropolis of Quito, to the Amazon Rainforest, to the Gala... - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review

Past Review Life In Quito
Quito has a completely different pace of life than what I am used to in the U.S. Ecuadorians are never on time and value friendships and relationships with people above anything else. I really enjoyed spending 5 months in a place with a different mindset (about school, work, spending time with family, food, etc), and I have been... - Wesleyan University View Entire Review
Studying abroad in Ecuador was the best decision I ever made. I not only improved my Spanish skills, but I also learned a lot about both the Ecuadorian culture and my American culture. - Trinity University View Entire Review
I believe that studying abroad is one of the most incredible experiences that someone my age can have. The very act of leaving home and going somewhere where everything is new will challenge you and help you grow in ways that you did not think were possible. Add to that the culture and, in my case, the language of the other coun... - Presbyterian College View Entire Review

Everything. Independence, language skills, friends, maturity, initiative. It was worthwhile, but if I could do it again I'd choose a program that encourages and allows for even more independence - maybe a direct enrollment program.
