Not perfect, but an interesting and enjoyable experience Past Review
By A student (Middlebury College) - abroad from 01/05/2017 to 04/14/2017 with
Middlebury Schools Abroad: Middlebury – CMRS Oxford Humanities Program
It was a lovely change of scene, I loved the local area and academic culture, and traveled a lot. It was definitely worthwhile!

Review Your Program
|
 * Overall educational experience
 Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
 Depends on your tutor and what course you take. Overall, I enjoyed all my tutorials, but there were definitely varying levels of intensity. |
|
 * Host Country Program Administration
 On-site administration of your program |
 They're kind and fun people, generally helpful when they can be. |
|
 * Housing:
 How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
 Having a roommate isn't ideal, but otherwise the building is fine and well located. |
| * Food: |
 Dining halls are very average, but you can easily cook well for yourself. |
|
 * Social & Cultural Integration:
 How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
 This is definitely the weakness of the program - it's hard to integrate into local culture if you're only there for such a short time. And you're living separately and taking your own courses. |
|
 * Health Care:
 How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
 NOT easily accessible. The GP is always booked for weeks and there's basically no other resources. |
| * Safety: |
 Very safe.  |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
 I would try and directly enroll for a year if possible. |
Finances
|
 * Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
 (1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)  |
 It's generally pretty expensive but you can definitely budget if you try. It's just tempting to spend money on food, drinks, etc.. |
| Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Buy in bulk, cook meals with others, try to be ~semi~ strict with eating out, drinking out etc. |
Language
| * Did your program have a foreign language component? | No |

Reasons For Studying Abroad

The Academic or LinguistYou went abroad with specific academic goals in mind; the program credentials and rigor of your coursework abroad were very important to you. You had a great time abroad, but never lost sight of your studies and (if applicable) were diligent with your foreign language study. Good for you! |
