By (IPE, Middlebury College) - abroad from 01/17/2022 to 04/16/2022 with

Middlebury Schools Abroad: Middlebury – CMRS Oxford Humanities Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I think my writing definitely improved a lot! I also learned to plan my life with more agency. It was definitely worthwhile.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It is definitely a challenging and rewarding experience, and it will truly improve your writing skills. Half a star deducted for the lack of clarity about grade and performance in the middle of the course. The grading might sometimes be arbitrary and depend on your individual tutors.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

I ate out for most of my meals and it is important to learn to control your budget!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

There is not much interaction with Oxford students, yet travel is accessible and town is await for your exploration!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I ate out everyday and spent about 30 pounds on food. Not a great example and should've learned how to cook!

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 300-500
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Maybe make your own food and plan ahead! I think everything in the UK is about the same numerical price as it is in the US except it's in pounds. Not accurate but just for reference!
