About
Designed for students with advanced Spanish language proficiency, the Middlebury School in Chile offers a fully immersive academic and cultural experience in Santiago, one of Latin America's most dynamic capitals. Students enroll directly in courses alongside Chilean and international peers at one of Middlebury's two partner institutions—the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, the Universidad de Chile, or the Universidad Alberto Hurtado—choosing from a broad range of disciplines while engaging fully in Chilean university life. Guided by the Middlebury Language Pledge, participants strengthen their Spanish through sustained interaction in academic, social, and community settings while developing a deeper understanding of Chilean society and culture.
Santiago is a modern and cosmopolitan city surrounded by the Andes Mountains, offering students an exceptional setting for cultural exploration and language immersion. With its museums, theaters, historic neighborhoods, parks, cafés, and thriving arts scene, the city provides countless opportunities to connect with Chilean culture beyond the classroom. Through direct enrollment, meaningful engagement with local peers, and daily use of Spanish, the Middlebury School in Chile prepares students to navigate the Spanish-speaking world with greater fluency, confidence, and cultural understanding.
