About

Join an academic photography course in Cape Town, South Africa, and explore the role of photography in an NGO context. Images have the potential to influence societies in a positive way by persuading people to engage with important issues and contribute to development work, both in a social development and conservation context. As a participant on this summer course, you'll learn how images carry to across different cultures, communicating powerful social and political messages. You'll also get to put this knowledge into practice by honing your photography skills and documenting the work of a local NGO. This course is a unique the opportunity to study the role photography plays in the development space, and to contribute to an important grassroots cause at the same time.
You will learn through practical photography courses, lectures and field trips around Cape Town. This summer course takes an interdisciplinary approach and is therefore appropriate for students with varying study backgrounds, beyond photography. You will be guided by an academic advisor to shape the experience for your goals.
