  • This program is currently only open to SDSU Liberal Studies majors and pre-major students.

  • SDSU Seniors (having 90 or more overall cumulative semester units on their current SDSU transcript at the time of application [click here for more information] ) get priority selection during the first two weeks after the application opens. Opens to juniors, sophomores, and freshmen after those two weeks.

This program offers international experience in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Thailand. SDSU students will engage in various cultural activities in addition to interacting with educators from local schools. Students will coordinate and implement service learning activities that will enhance their futures as elementary and middle school teachers. Additionally, participants will engage with unique aspects of the locale with an emphasis on local culture and history. These experiences are designed to be personally enriching as well as useful to their future careers as teachers.As part of this program, students will be registered for the accompanying ED 450 course. Students will engage in team-building activities, learn from student panels and speakers, complete online modules, complete research and reflection papers, and create online videos. The purpose is to prepare students for their travel abroad experience and to provide opportunities for students to grow global mindsets.

This course includes both face-to-face and online sessions. These sessions are all mandatory(no exceptions). Please make sure that you are available on the following dates in order to participate in this program (Locations will be provided to all accepted students).   1. Pre-Departure Orientation: April 10, 11, or 12 (more information will be provided) 

  2. In-class at SDSU's main campus: Friday, May 3 from 2-5pm

  3. In-class at SDSU's main campus: Monday, May 20 from 2-5pm

  4. Abroad: May 27-June 10

  5. Online Sessions: Monday, June 17 and Monday, June 24
