We got to study climate change and the Arctic first hand and this is not an opportunity many people get. I feel like I gained more than I thought I ever would form this experience. A student - Swarthmore College View Entire Review
I learned even more about how to live on my own/with friends and come up with routines to keep myself learning and happy. I feel way more prepared for life after college as a result. On top of that, I learned a ton about the politics and cultures of the areas we visited, and how climate change will impact those areas. A student - Bowdoin College View Entire Review
It made me more confident in who I am and what I am capable of doing academically and socially. I also found what I want to continue studying and maybe make a career of. A student - Grinnell College View Entire Review
While I certainly learned about climate change and the arctic ecosystem/culture, more than anything, I learned about people and how to function independently. Life can be tough in the bitter cold of Greenland and darkness of Iceland but these communities have adapted and figured out what to do with what little they have - a key ... I learned that I can be more independent than I originally thought. This program really encouraged you to navigate issues on your own which taught me a lot of important skills. It taught me what aspects in life are really important to me and gave me more of an idea of what I want my future to look like. It was 100% worthwhile, n... I gained an understanding of Icelandic culture and how it may influence their sustainability. I met a lot of Icelandic people as well as fellow American students that I learned a lot from. I learned skills in field methods and critical thinking, but most importantly I learned how environmental scientists communicate and inform politics. It was very helpful to see how Europe handles climate change differently than the U.S., and bring home new ideologies. Bianca Peterman - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned that I am much more independent and capable of traveling on my own than I anticipated. I believe that this experience was 100% worthwhile and feel like I learned a lot about myself and my true interests. A student - University of Oregon View Entire Review
I learned how to learn differently. Having field-based learning experiences was a new thing to me. There were not people reminding me what I needed to do every day so I also had to learn to be self-motivated. It was 100% worthwhile because I developed my character and learned more about myself as a person. A student - University of St. Thomas - Minnesota View Entire Review
I learned a lot about climate change -- which was intense, but I'm really glad I know the things I know now. I feel like a really changed person as a result of the things I learned and the people I met. A student - Smith College View Entire Review
Yes. I loved the opportunity to live independently and with a homestay in the small Icelandic fishing town of Isafjordur. It was wonderful immersing oneself in a local, tightly-knit community and learning a bit about Icelandic culture through experience. It is amazing to be able to live in Iceland and say you're not just a touri... Morgan Perlman - Middlebury College View Entire Review

I don't feel I gained much. What I learned I could have taught myself at home. I enjoyed the travelling and site seeing. I have been struggling to figure out if it was worth it. Sophia Leiter - Middlebury College View Entire Review
