The learning that went on during this program was very hands-on. There was a lot of writing to do and maintaining the blog was definitely challenging, but the most valuable experiences were those that we experienced in the theater, in my opinion. Being a theater major, I am very interested to know what theater is like in all areas in the world and to be able to go to London, the world's theater capital, was the best experience I could get. I saw things there that I would not see anywhere else, and it really taught me what theater is really capable of and what I could do as long as I stop things from holding me back.

On-site administration of your program

I thought the program and program leader did a great job in opening my eyes to the different culture of both a foreign country and large city. Our leader was very good about making sure we always had plenty to do and did not skimp on the writing assignments. The program was great in that it allowed us to experience London almost as if we really lived there, as well as show us areas outside of London, specifically Stratford. This was especially valuable because of the Royal Shakespeare Company, which was a highlight of the program. Also the program leader was wonderful in keeping our minds engaged and taking us to experience performances that got into our heads.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The dorm was fine and adequate, however living with high school students and families was not the greatest experience. The place was clean, for the most part, and the staff was very friendly. The biggest problem was who we were living around.

It really depends on where you go because you can always have excellent food in London. The breakfast at the dorm is good, a bit bland, but good considering it was free. Also make sure you check out Doggett's and get some fish and chips and a Fruli. Also get Indian food while you are there-it is fantastic. You can do stuff for cheap however, so make sure you find a close M&S or other grocery store for sandwiches, crisps, and water.

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Since much of our program included shows that we saw, and I have already spoken of them I will be brief with them now. I will simply say that I saw some of the best theater I think I may ever see while I was on this trip. Also almost everyone there was very friendly as long as you are friendly to them. There is also tons of free museums and events there so make sure you get your fill of them- like the National Gallery or the "Watch this Space" festival. And if you ever find yourself bored, head to Southbank or Covent garden since there will always be something interesting at both places.

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I never once felt in danger during the program, even at night or when alone. That being said just do not be stupid about what you are doing or where you are doing it, and listen to the program leader when they tell you the bad parts of town. I never had any problems with health care, and did not require it while over there. Also no additional vaccines were needed.
