Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Students don't receive any homework assignments other than a research paper in some classes. The grade is determined by students' performance on the ONE exam at the end of the semester.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They managed everything very well when it came to the classes that they offered, but they could have done more to help and prepare the students taking classes at the local university. I feel like they have adopted an American way of teaching at the Center so the three-week intensive period did not really give me an idea of what to expect from classes at the university. The teaching methods are completely different and the professors at the university are not as catering to Americans. CC~CS did, however, provide a tutor for each course.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

My neighborhood, Nervion, was very safe in general and I loved my host mom because she was always very sweet, caring, and easy to talk to. The house was very far away from the Center though and I had to either walk for 40 minutes or rely on public transportation everyday.

* Food:

The food was always great and my host mom was very willing to make as many accommodations as necessary.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The program offered a lot of field trip at no extra cost. One of them covered three different cities in one weekend.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Healthcare was easily accessible because we received health insurance through the program.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Didn't have to spend anything on food unless I wanted a snack, so about 20 EUROS a week. The amount increased when traveling during the weekend.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? N/A

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
