I got to fly in my first plane (first two, actually). I got to go to a city and country I have always wanted to visit. I learned some Italian, I got to eat the best food (and gelato) that I have ever ate in my life. I learned so much not only about their healthcare system, but about their culture. HSC 424 - Multicultural Aspects for 3 credit hours during MayMester will be traveling to Rome, Italy to learn more about the Italian health system and compare the services available in that country to similar services in the United States.
While participating in this study abroad program, students will gain insights into all facets of Italy's healthcare system and be able to do a comparative analysis to the United States healthcare system. This program offers a thorough overview of everything healthcare related; from government regulations and health insurance to nursing homes and addiction prevention. Students will also have the opportunity to become acquainted with Italian public healthcare students.
