Minus all the racism and poverty of Brasil the trip was well worth the effort. I see myself living in Brasil for an extended period of time in the near future. - Southwest Tennessee Community College View Entire Review

About

This program is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of Brazilian culture and Portuguese language, with additional course work offered in anthropology, music, and intermediate and advanced Portuguese. For most of the program students will live with Brazilian host families and will need to communicate through Portuguese. The program will provide coursework in survival Portuguese for those students with no Portuguese language background, including an intensive language training section the first week of the program. Nonetheless, it is very useful for students to have some foreign language background (especially Spanish) to get the most out of the program.

Excursions: While in Fortaleza there will be excursions each weekend to nearby towns and beaches. Day trips include excursions to Cumbuco and Morro Branco. Overnight trips will be to Guaramiranga (2 days) and Jericoacoara (3 days). While in Rio there will be excursions to Sugar Loaf, Corcovado (Christ Statue), and the centro (downtown).
