About
China raises over 20% of the world’s population with about 10% arable land. It also faces great challenges in environmental and natural resources sustainability. This program offers students with first-hand experience and better understanding of China as an integrative part of the global environment. In particular, students will learn about the land, soil, water, climate, technology and other supporting elements for Chinese environmental and natural resources, the challenges and limiting factors for sustainable development, and impact of urbanization and globalization on food security and ecosystem health. Students will gain direct observation and comprehension of the issues and challenges in environmental and natural resources sustainability from a global perspective, and a much deeper appreciation on environmental protection, resources conservation, and sustainable economic development.
