About
UConn-LCI (Language and Culture Immersion) is a four-week intensive Chinese language and culture immersion program geared towards improving Chinese learners’ linguistic competence and cultural awareness in context. The program consists of a four-week language and culture course, afternoon cultural workshops and excursions and weekend trips to Beijing and Mountain Tai and Confucius Temple. Learners at different levels are accepted.
The UConn-LCI is located in Tianjin, China. Tianjin is the third largest city in China and one of the biggest ports in Northern China. It is only an hour’s drive from Beijing, and 50 minutes’ drive from the seashore. With the completion of the C-Train (Chengji train, which means inter-city express), the distance between Beijing and Tianjin is shortened to only 30 minutes. The proximity to Beijing makes Tianjin an excellent base exploring China’s capital city and many other parts of the country while one enjoys the low cost offered in the city.
The hosting institution of UConn-LCI is New Century Language and Culture Center, affiliated with Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, one of the leading business institutes in China.
