This program helped me bridge the gap between advanced language skills and fluency. Every opportunity is available for you, you choose how involved you want to be and how you want to spend your time. I took dance classes at a local studio and went to the farmers market on the weekends. The program center hosts many events and ex... A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review

Living with a host family was an incredible experience. I was able to really practice my French comprehension and speaking skills, but I also got to be exposed to true French culture and form long-lasting relationships with my host parents and siblings. The city was youthful and vibrant and gorgeous — already itching to go back! Dalya K - Brandeis University View Entire Review
Worth every second. I gained confidence, independence, flexibility, and language fluency. A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned so much about French language and culture living with a host family and taking French classes, while making close American friends and having the support of a strong program. I directly experienced the political world of France, studying at a time when gilet jaunes were protesting frequently, but I always felt safe and... A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review

I learned that I was more capable than I thought- that I could live in a country that did not speak English and that I could work through a language. I would not have traded my semester abroad for the world. A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review
It was definitely worthwhile. I am much more comfortable with my language use and I know that I can easily communicate what I want in French now and be understood. A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I made friends that I hope to keep in touch with and had a lot of fun. It was very much worthwhile. Also my language proficiency grew exponentially. A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review
It's hard to take it all in at this point, and see how it will affect my future. But as a cultural anthropology and french major, I LOVED getting to live what I have been studying - people and their languages. I got to live that: eat their food, drink their wine, run around their neighborhood with my host dad, see my host brot... Lauren B - University of Arkansas - Fayetteville View Entire Review

Besides learning French, being abroad pushed me to learn how to be more independent whether that is keeping track of my spendings, navigating through a foreign city, or learning how to balance school and social life. A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review
Patience in nuanced cultural differences, complete fluency in the french language, an appreciation for a more old-fashioned, graceful and conservative culture. It was absolutely worth while but not at all what I expected it to be. Yvette Smith - Brandeis University View Entire Review
