University of Northern Iowa: Traveling - UNI Climate Change Capstone in Spain
I loved traveling throughout Spain but I felt like the attitudes of the professors held the students back from making the most of the trip.
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The professors were unclear about the course work and changed the course work throughout the program. Unfair and illegitimate standards. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
The professors were not sensitive to the needs of the students and at several points made it dangerous for a few students to be traveling. For example, a students luggage with her passport and money was left in a hotel hallway because the professor felt it wasn't his responsibility to carry it down or watch over it. I made the professors aware of some of my health issues and they were insensitive about it and didn't take them into consideration on several occasions. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Spain is worth traveling to, but I would not travel with this specific program because of the course material and the professors conducting the class. |
