University of Texas - Austin: Cambridge - Music Maymester
It was incredibly worthwhile. I spent an entire month simply listening and observing. Do that anywhere and you will learn a lot. Go to a foreign country with great traditions of choral music, a place with so much to say, and you will learn more than you could ever imagine you could.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
In Cambridge, my roommate and I stayed in the home of a single woman and her seven year old daughter. The neighborhood was a little far from the center of town, but as long as you planned around the bus schedule, you could get to town in about 20 minutes. In London, we stayed in a home in Crouch End. Our host family was an older couple and their two grown children. They were very welcoming and ready to chat with us whenever there was a chance. The neighborhood is pretty far from the center of London, but the buses and underground will get you just about anywhere in about an hour.

The Cambridge home was a little uncomfortable simply because of the distance from Cambridge and the pretty constant chaos. We didn't have much of an opportunity to spend time with the family. The neighborhood itself seemed pretty nice and safe, but it got very dark late at night. The London home was wonderful. I only regret that we didn't have more time to spend with the family. |

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | I expected more meals to be included in the program fee. It's a good idea to keep a record of what you're spending and what you've spent it on. |
