What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I gained a greater appreciation for the country I live in but also a deeper understanding of another culture and government system. It was absolutely worthwhile, both personally and professionally. Gaining an understanding of different systems will not assist me as a business professional but as a human being.

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I would estimate I spent about $100 total on meals, etc. not covered by the trip. I spent more on gifts to bring home.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Definitely get currenty before you go on the trip from your bank so you have money on hand when you arrive. Try and find out about how much a meal costs to better prepare for meals not covered. Give yourself extra for you will see a lot you want to do/buy.

  • Receive the schedule earlier and build in more free time during the day, not just in the evening
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Make sure to do a bit more research on the country before visiting and speak with someone who has been there before to provide a greater insight. There is GREAT shopping to be had so plan accordingly as you will want to bring items back. Engage in the company visits and ask more questions.
