Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"It was worthwhile. I got to meet a lot of new, lasting friends, explore a lot of places, and learn about a new country that I've never been too. It was definitely an experience that will be with me forever. "
Nicole L University of California - Riverside
"Yes, only my housing was terrible, the rest of the trip was fun."
Catherine W University of California - Riverside
"I learnt the language, got to meet and work with excellent faculty, made some new friends (both Ameircan and Italian), saw many cities (Rome, Verona, Venice, Mantova, Bologna, Padova and others) and had the time of my life in general. I am international student from India and have traveled a lot, so I've always been culturally s..."
Amar S Grinnell College
"Absolutely. I am considering living in Europe sometime after I graduate, thanks to my experience with this program. I learned to be aware of the relativity of basically everything and I understood that so many things that I thought were obvious and correct were not in other cultures/countries. "
Maria Elena B Harvard University
"Absolutely!"
David M Harvard University
"I don't know how much more I can say. I learned the language, culture, and history. Aside from that, I learned about myself. What my weaknesses are, what my strengths are, and how to ask for help. I learned humility, and how important it is to metaphorically and quite literally take steps towards paths where we might not fully u..."
Trevor R University of the Pacific
"I understand that each region has its own specific weakness and strengths. That I should not dwell on the comparrison while travelling, but embrace the differences. In the future I hope to one day live abroad for a time and travel in the near future."
Gregory-Thomas S University of California - Riverside
"Overall, my study abroad experience made me believe that their was another way of living, loving, and eating. I discovered new academic interests in the field of visual cultural anthropology and documentary. I've also learned that it's important to work to live not live to work. "
Emerald B University of Maryland - College Park
"It was great but so were my other alternatives"
Yifan W Harvard University

"It was an eye opening experience for personal as well as cultural reasons. I already knew what I wanted to study and the direction I wanted to go, but it gave me a chance to explore parts of the world that I would not have gotten to otherwise, meet people from all over, and see how people outside of the US live. "
Lori N University of Florida
"Yes"
Emma S Wellesley College
"I am a more independent person now, if that's even possible. I experienced diversity, which being from Maine is hard to do. It helped with my nursing career in a way that it hard to understand. It was just a life changing experience, that everyone should have. "
Hannah B University of Maine at Orono
"I miss Japan everyday. It left such an impact on who I am as a person. The culture, the people the language, the food; all of it changed me. When I returned to the states I knew what my major would be; International Studies with a focus on East Asia. Without studying abroad I may have chosen a different major."
Erica H North Carolina State University
"The Siena program was a once and a lifetime experience. I learned more in the few weeks that I was there than I did in the several semesters of Italian language/culture courses that I took at my home university. I can't wait to go back someday. "
Kassandra M Kennesaw State University
"Definitely worthwhile. I gained an understanding of cultural differences and made me think outside of the box as far as how we think as Americans and how we should be more open to differences. "
Henry L University of California - Riverside
"My whole study abroad experience was somewhat strange. In some ways, I wish I had spent a year in London rather than coming to Italy. But I can't regret the experiences I have, or the discovery of so many new theatrical forms that I find really inspiring. The beautiful places I went, the amazing food I ate, and the great friends..."
