Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.
Study Abroad with Direct Enrollment/Exchange
"This study abroad experience was worthwhile. It really changed the way I see live. I've come to be more appreciative of the life that I have in America. After studying at an international university, I have become accepting of other cultures outside of my ethnicity. It really makes me regret my global narrow-mindedness on the on..."
Brooke O University of Hawaii - Manoa
"Many familiar faces say "welcome back!" but I don't feel like I came back at the place I left last August; new people to meet, new classes to take/teach, but most importantly, I have new ideas of what I need to do now in order to achieve my goals in life. "
Amy I Oklahoma State University - Stillwater
"Spending more than a few months in a foreign country is always worthwhile even if you don't get your credits transferred or you lose money, etc. My above rating is that of my experience with the study abroad program at UT, which actually did little to facilitate or enrich my study abroad experience."
Jennifer L The University of Texas at Austin
"I know now that I can handle being adrift in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar culture. The program itself is not very spectacular. The University is amazing, the location is amazing. The program gets you there."
Trisha D SUNY - Binghamton
"It was the best year of my life and I wouldn't change anything! The only thing I regret is since I traveled like a tourist, I experienced Europe in a very touristic manner and not necessarily how a student who studied in a full immersion program would have."

"Yes, it was worthwhile. The international coordinators from both schools were incompetent in my opinion, but it was good to have a different learning experience. The library and internet systems were quite frustrating...I had to have a lot of patience!"
Meredith M The University of Texas at Austin
"Totally worthwhile! I may be returning to Australia for Grad School or living there in the future. :)"
Emily J University of Northern Colorado
"I gained so many positive things from my experience abroad. Although it was relatively short, I feel that my grasp on Japanese language and culture has improved. I was also able to meet and become friends with people who travelled to Japan from around the world! I learned a lot from the program too and feel that I can do some..."
Lauren K University of Hawaii - Manoa
"Even before this program I already had a lot of experience studying about and living in Japan. So, this experience did little to change my cultural awareness or change my academic interests. I did this because I knew I wanted to spend more time in Japan and wanted to improve my language skills not because I wanted to find out ..."
Joshua T University of Hawaii - Manoa
"Yes my experience was special and valuable to me. "
Jacob G The University of Texas at Austin
"yes. I loved traveling and meeting new people."
Jillian G SUNY - Binghamton
"My experience was worthwhile. I got to experience a totally different style of education while taking classes that I couldn't take at Wellesley. I also met some great friends and traveled around quite a bit! "
Victoria D Wellesley College
"It was worthwhile because I made it worthwhile. You have to honestly want to be engaged into a program such as this. "
Adriana B SUNY - Binghamton
"The study abroad experience did give me a better understanding for German culture and I was able to learn the language better. Academically the program was not a good experience for me. It did not add to my college transcript. I do think I will continue learning German later in life and that culturally I am more aware."
Lila M Clark University
"YES! The most worthwhile, amazing experience of my life! I gained so many things from it, I don't even know where to start. Through volunteering at a children's home I learned so much about poverty, loss, and tragedy, but also joy in the midst of troubles. Through my involvement in the local church my life was absolutely transfo..."
Christina H University of Denver
"It was a great experience, but I would have enjoyed a bigger city with more engaged professors. The fact that there were so many American students and all the other international students spoke English made it difficult to stick to speaking German. The most important thing I learned was that I love Texas, my home, my friends, an..."
Margaret R The University of Texas at Austin
"My study abroad facilitated many changes in outlook and awareness, but is probably not the direct cause. I feel that I took advantage of the situation to explore many areas and avoid being a tourist as much as possible. I met many interesting people, had many worthwhile conversations, and has really afforded me the opportunity t..."
Adam H The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned more during my time in Australia than I had in my first 3 years of College. Being forced to live in a new place, no matter where it is, is the essence of independence. I met the most interesting people from around the globe and I traveled wherever I wished, free from any responsibilities. I trekked the outback, surfed ..."
Benji H The University of Texas at Austin
"It was definitely worthwhile. I feel that I learned a lot academically and non-academically and a lot about a different part of the world I was not too familiar with such as Europe, Asia, and Africa. While living in the heart of London it often felt that I was living in the heart of the world. When living in America I can feel t..."
Alefia J Clark University
"It was my first time spending a significant time outside of New York City (where I was raised and go to college). The year in China is what I needed because it helped me to understand myself and my birthplace. It helped me to build confidence and independence."
Yuan Y Barnard College
"My study abroad experience was the most rewarding thing I have ever done. I've made friends and memories that will last me a lifetime. "
Sharon C Georgia College & State University
"It was definitely worthwhile. I would never do it again, but it definitely tought be a lot and made me learn a lot about arabic, the culture, and myself."
Megan K SUNY - Binghamton
"It was worth it."
Ryan H SUNY - Binghamton
"If I could do it all over again, I would choose the same program and take advantage of all the opportunities. I would have got more involved. But it inspired me to get more involved and stand up for myself back in the US. I also on one side wish I went to Argentina or another country for one semester. But at the same time, I kno..."
