Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"Was worth it for the traveling. No school will be better than Wellesley's but most will be less work. "
Maxine Hood Wellesley College
"I definitely learned a lot about how people live in different countries (e.g. food, culture, habits, healthcare systems etc.). I also got to see a lot: I especially liked seeing the art, architecture, and landscapes of different countries. I also gained a lot of experience with planning when I organized travel plans. I also got ..."

"I got to know how it feels like to live in a cosmopolitan city (London) and how to balance life with work as a result."
A student Middlebury College
"I went outside my comfort zone, and now my comfort zone is larger. I learned how to be grateful while others complained, and things don't have to be perfect to be invaluable. It was important for me to enjoy Germany, and I was happy to soak in their cultural quirks. In the face of adversities, I gained independence and resilienc..."

"The most valuable aspect of studying abroad in London was learning to live independently. Budgeting, cooking, and time managing are some of the skills I developed during the semester. I would say I now feel more comfortable living on my own, adjusting to an urban setting, and balancing my time --the experience was definitely wor..."

"I would say that overall, my study abroad experience was worthwhile. Although if I had the choice to do it all over again, I would choose to go to a different university, this experience really was a once in a lifetime experience. The opportunity to be able to be in Italy - someplace I dreamed about going to since my first Itali..."
Kathleen Stone Saint Leo University
"I learned a lot about the Australian culture and it was definitely worthwhile. I made so many friends, many of whom were American from different schools, who I would not have met otherwise. "
A student Middlebury College
"I got to take classes in subjects that I had no prior experience in. I also became a lot more confident in traveling internationally by myself. Overall it was worthwhile."
A student University of Maine - Orono
"What it's like studying under the Oxford education system"
A student Wellesley College
"It was a valuable experience to study abroad and meet different people. I enjoyed the balance of academics and free time."
A student Wellesley College
"I learned how to study more independently without assistance and learned how to cook. "
A student Wellesley College
"By being exposed to people who don't think so similarly to me, I was challenged to question myself every day: Is there a better career path for me that I haven't considered because it's not popular in the US? Is there a better way to do higher education? Is there a more interesting thing to study for me that isn't offered in the..."
A student Wellesley College
"I gained a lot of independence, figuring things out for myself without friends around. "
A student Wellesley College
"I made a huge amount of friends from all over and gained a lot of knowledge relevant to my degree which I still draw upon today"
Damon Vavros University of Wollongong
"The experience was incredible and 100% worthwhile. In retrospect, I credit the program for further developing my independence. "
J Murphy Clark University - Worcester
"I learned how to relax and separate my social life from my academic life. By traveling on the weekends, I learned how to be more independent. It was 100% worthwhile!"
A student Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about myself and what I'm capable of. I went to this program not knowing anyone I was nervous but the friends and confidence that I gained doing it was worth being nervous. I also gained a ton of patience. This is an experience no matter how annoyed I was with all of the paperwork before going, and sometimes whi..."
Abigale Staples Eastern Illinois University
"I am still glad I went abroad because I had some invaluable life experiences and got to do a lot of travelling. I think that in concept, this program is a great opportunity for pre-medical students, but the university accommodation needs to be fundamentally changed. "
A student Wellesley College
"How to enjoy university."
A student Wellesley College
"I learned that even though every city is completely different, filled of its own treasures, people are the same more or less everywhere. From each friend I made from different countries I took a small piece of their culture and added it to my own. I learned it is much better to have a diverse understanding of the world"
Kaitlyn DeTrinis SUNY - College at New Paltz
"Cultural and linguistic fluency. "
Paul D. Deering, Ph.D. University of Hawaii - Manoa
"Definitely Worthwhile! Lots of room for personal growth and exploring your interests in the field of medicine as well as learning how a hospital operates."
A student Brandeis University
"Along with some new language skills, friends, and the chance to see a new place, I gained a lot of cultural awareness for not only South Korea, but my own country as well. Going abroad helped open my eyes even more to the differences between my country and other countries, as well as myself from the rest of the people I live wit..."
Eden Morley Berea College
"I learnt what makes me happy. I learnt what gets me stimulated. Above all, it taught me how to be strong and confident, and that the strength and confidence that you gain somewhere else is not localized to the place in which it is founded but can travel with you wherever you go. "
Hannah Abdoh McGill University
"I learned alot of the language and a gained a valuable look into the different cultures and ideas from around the world."
