"Yes yes yes. I was able to move past the "tourist" phase by spending so much time in one city. I felt like I really got to invest myself in a people group. I went as a history/religion double major and came back even more confident that I had chosen the right path. It was just a wonderful experience overall."
Hannah B Hope College

"Studying in Japan was right in line with my East Asian Studies major. The only real trouble I had, was the cost of living in Tokyo. Transportation, food, and entertainment costs can quickly rack up if you're not careful. However, Tokyo is a very safe city in terms of crime rate. Even in you drop/lose your cellphone or wallet, yo..."

Nicole D Brandeis University
"Yes! This was something that I had always wanted to do, and I was finally able to do it in my last semester. It was a good experience for me to leave Hope (which I loved), and go to a BIG school, with bigger classes to make me appreciated Hope even more. It was also nice to just receive a totally different schooling experience f..."

"YES. The psych classes I took made me decide my future. The professors in Milan are both professors as well as practicing clinical psychologists. Not typical in America. Studying abroad gets you to think outside of your little American bubble, as well as infects you with the travel bug. Totally worth it."
Becca C Hope College
"Yes, this experience was completely worthwhile. I not only gained confidence in my language skills but it also gave me an opportunity to have a new perspective on the political, social and educational world. I loved the amount of students from all over the world, and Germany especially, that I was able to know and discuss curren..."

"Living in Milan made me see the differences between Italy as a whole but it has also allowed me to be a more independent person. In the future I would love to move back to this vibrant city."
Monica Q The University of Texas at Austin
"Oh sheesh. I look at pictures of me from sixth months ago and don't even recognize myself. I have become so much more confident and sure of myself, in knowing that I can survive (and thrive) in a foreign country speaking a foreign language. I know it sounds sappy and a bit too happy, but I have learned so much about myself and w..."

"I definitely think that we have much to learn from people abroad in terms of the way they live. Japanese people are very welcoming to Americans, and are definitely curious about our lifestyle. If the occasion calls for it, I would love to return to Japan, whether to visit friends/family, or to work."
Anthony F The University of Texas at Austin
"Yes"

"My study abroad experience was worthwhile despite the disappointing program I chose. Studying abroad taught me how to find my own happiness and to not let the confining structures of a program determine the quality of your abroad experience. Although, a great program makes happiness much easier to come by. "
