IFSA is a program provider offering 71 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, and Online Program abroad programs in 14 countries such as Argentina, Australia, Chile, and Costa Rica.
IFSA programs have the highest academic standards. Most of our programs allow students to enroll directly in a university abroad which creates a truly integrated cultural experience. IFSA's internship options allow you to gain practical work experience, strengthen your resume and get an insiders look at your host country.
IFSA's affiliated universities abroad are at the top of their countries rankings. All of our programs include events and excursions exclusively for our students throughout the semester. IFSA has program offices and full time staff in each country where we have programs. Our staff provide everything from detailed on-site orientations to academic guidance to emergency assistance. Our program fees guarantee housing. Once you finish your study abroad program, Butler University will process your official transcript with grade and credit translations at no additional cost. IFSA was founded in 1988. We have more than three decades of experience, longevity and reliability!
Study Abroad with IFSA
"I gained insight into schooling in the UK system, and thoroughly enjoyed my time; however, I gained very little academically. There was plenty of fun to be had, but aside from my interest in golf I don't think it was worth going."
A student Trinity University
"Absolutely worthwhile. Future students, do not get yourself sucked into a group of strictly international or American friends. Do everything you can to put yourself in situations to meet locals, that's what the best experience of being abroad is. "
A student Trinity University
"It was worthwhile. Gained insight about how other people see the world."
A student Trinity University
"The single most worthwhile thing I have ever done! I made so many new friends and learned so much about myself and how I operate independently from everything that I know."
Zach M Trinity University
"I learned a lot about myself (which sounds cheesy, but it's true) and I really learned a lot about Australia, and their history and culture both historically and now. Although Australian society is similar to that of the States it's culture is surprisingly different in ways and I also had the opportunity to visit Fiji and see bo..."
Megan G Trinity University
"Definitely Worthwhile and I wish I could do it again. I would be more outgoing than I was."
Phillippa S Trinity University
"I learned to be independent. It was completely worthwhile and I would do it again in a heartbeat."

"I learned a lot about how I function as an individual, as well as how to have a fun diverse experience."
Caroline K Trinity University
"I learned SO much chinese, the rest of the classes were a joke. I="
A student Wellesley College
"I liked living in England. That in and of itself was a valueable experience but I did not learn more than I had already known. I would not go as a student. "
A student Austin College
"I gained so much knowledge on a culture that I hadn't previously experienced. I learned a lot of Mandarin and I met some amazing people. It was very worthwhile. "
A student Wellesley College
"The language program was strong, Shanghai was amazing. "
Hayley G Wellesley College
"I gained an increased sense of independance because I was on my own in a foreign country. I gained a broader view of the world and enjoyed seeing how the Irish view the U.S"
A student Assumption College
"It was very worth while. I was able to gain a lot of confidence in my self and learned a lot about the world around me"
kristi.sizemore.3 Austin College
"The knowledge of being able to live and thrive abroad. The ability to fully tackle learning Chinese."
Johnny W Tufts University
"By exploring the world outside my ideal comfort zone (which, in Scotland, would be curling up under lots of blankets and drinking tea), I made some life long friends with whom I explored the country, learned local customs and cultural differences, and shared loads of creative energy. While traveling, you have a wealth of resourc..."
Zoey H Brandeis University
"I learned about adapting to a new culture very different from my own and about living in a country where they don't speak English. I thought that the experience was very worthwhile."
Rachel H Bentley University
"I learned a TON about Argentina in general. I also learned how to be alone and be content alone (coming from dorm life in the US, it can be surprisingly uncomfortable). It was 150% worthwhile - no one can take this experience away from me."
A student Fordham University
"Gained maturity, it was completely worthwhile."
A student Brandeis University
"I learned much more about myself and about the real world than I learned about academic material. I learned valuable life skills such as greater independence and confidence in my ability to handle nearly any situation that arises, I learned how to communicate more effectively, how to pay attention to detail, how to stay safe and..."
A student Berea College
"While most Americans became really close with other Americans abroad and they traveled together and took really cool photos all over Europe, I chose to join a sports team instead. While this took up much of my time, it was most definitely worth it. I feel that I made lasting connections with local students through the team and..."
Mary C Brandeis University
"It was definitely worthwhile to come here. The people were friendly, the culture was great, and the classes were excellent."
highintherunning Fordham University
"I learned how to live and study very independently. At a small school like Middlebury, that can be somewhat hard. I feel as though I can now live in a city after I graduate relatively easily. "
A student Middlebury College
"Cultural awareness; self-awareness; Friendships; Appreciation of what I have; Appreciation for the beauty/wonders of the world. YES!"
A student Shenandoah University
"The trips were fun and my Spanish did improve a slight bit but I was incredibly stressed out by how inadequately I was doing in classes and felt like I had little emotional support while there."
A student Austin College
