University of Georgia is a program provider offering 4 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad abroad programs in 6 countries such as Italy, Costa Rica, The United Kingdom, and Belgium.
Study abroad UGA programs, managed by the University of Georgia’s Global Education Office (StudyAway), consistently rank among the nation’s leaders for participation. According to the 2024 Open Doors report, Georgia places seventh overall and third for short-term study abroad, and more than 3,000 Bulldogs earn academic credit overseas each year in over 70 countries. The portfolio includes 130 faculty-led Maymester, summer and embedded courses, 100 partner-university exchanges, two year-round residential centers—UGA at Oxford in the United Kingdom and UGA Cortona in Italy—and a growing menu of internship and field-research placements on six continents. Whatever the discipline, from environmental science in Costa Rica to supply-chain management in Seoul, programs are designed so every major can stay on track for graduation while building global fluency.
Affordability stays front of mind: the Office of Global Engagement awards over $580,000 annually through the Passport Initiative and other scholarships, and existing state and federal aid usually travels with students. Comprehensive support services—one-on-one advising, peer mentors, pre-departure orientations, international health insurance and 24/7 emergency assistance—guide participants from application to re-entry. Identity-based resources ensure first-generation, rural and under-represented students feel empowered to go global. With flexible program lengths, robust funding and a team of dedicated advisers, UGA StudyAway turns the world into every Bulldog’s classroom.

"This trip was so worthwhile. I made friends that I will never forget. I saw some of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen in my life. I learned how to embrace other cultures, try new things, see the world from other people's perspective. But I also learned how to slow down, how to enjoy the little things, to savor life."
A student University of Hartford
"I had met many wonderful people, and experienced what it was like living in Europe. It was very worth while and had opened up my eyes to a lot."
Taylor L University of Hartford
"I learned that getting up and exploring your surroundings is the best way to learn about where you're staying. I also learned that gelato is inevitable and you will eat it more than you've ever eaten any type of ice cream before in your life."
A student University of Hartford
"Every second was worthwhile. I learned to let go of control and just go with the flow. "
A student University of Hartford
"I learned that I miss more than I gain by living life like a rat race. The Italians know how to enjoy life in a way that Americans never learn. I really hope that I can bring some semblance of that peace to my life in the States."
A student Trinity University
"I learned about another lifestyle and gained artistic skills in other fields. It was worthwhile except that it set me far back in credits."
A student University of Hartford

"Yes. I was inspired to see people my age doing something meaningful with their lives (fellow researchers). I was encouraged by the intelligence--intellectually, and emotionally--of the group. Presenting research greatly facilitated the cultural and intellectual exchange of this program. Also, Monteverde is essentially Eden, and ..."

"...Words can't really describe how amazing this experience was. For one thing, it made me lose my fear of trying new things and forced me to be spontaneous in every barrier that came my way. I think I also got the travel bug from this."
Erica L University of Hartford
"I can't say enough how great this program was. I think about it everyday and I wish that more people knew about it and applied. I don't make sense to me why someone wouldn't do it had they the chance. I am so grateful of the time I shared with the people on this trip and I miss all the friends and faculty I made and I plan on..."
