University Information
The Office of Study Abroad supports Brandeis students who participate on any of our 300 approved programs in some 65 different countries around the world.
On average 40% of the junior class studied abroad during the academic year while still more students took advantage of various international opportunities in the summer. There is a huge diversity of transformative experiences that Brandeis students have engaged in abroad including studying biodiversity conservation hands on in Panama, conducting ethnographic research on sacred figures in Mongolia, interning with Parliament in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and interning in special education classrooms in Sydney, Australia to name a few.
Whatever your story, journey or adventure is destined to be, come by our office to learn more about the steps to going away!
Additionally, by logging in to Abroad101, all approved programs will be tagged with an "Approved" badge.

"You definitely learn a lot about yourself. Studying abroad is the most amazing experience you will have in college and it is more than worthwhile."
Si-Si H Brandeis University
"I learned that when things get hard, the best thing is to keep going and put yourself as deeply in the thick of things as possible. I realized that I could have observed Chile and my host family or I could jump in, make a lot of mistakes, but also get so much more out of it. This program was incredibly worthwhile and special. I ..."

"I learned so much about the indigenous populations of Chile from within the populations. It was an experience that not just any tourist, or even Chilean, could have. I learned a lot about myself and my ability to cope with unfamiliar situations. It was completely worthwhile. "

"This experience was very worthwhile as I was exposed to a city that I had only read about quite a few times in my international relations courses and in my extra curricular activities. it was therefore good to experience the international Geneva that I had always read about."

"I learned much cultural and language knowledge, as well as much in my classes, but what I gained was indescribable. "All in all it was great, and I would definitely do it again. I had wanted to go to Russia for a long time, and it was so neat to finally be there. The program did a great job organizing excursions around St. Petersburg and outside the city, and I left feeling I knew the city. "
A student Brandeis University
"I learned a ton about myself. I became even more independent and comfortable with myself and my ability to live in the world. I missed home, but I also learned not to be scared of graduating from college because the tools I have learned at Brandeis will be applicable no matter where I end up in a year."

"If you have the chance to go abroad, DO IT! I learned a lot about myself and what my previous experiences had prepared me for and what I wasn't prepared for. I think that there are probably a lot of things I've learned from this experience that I don't even realize yet."
Yael M Brandeis University
"I have grown so much creatively and the time I have spent here has allowed me to gain confidence in my personal and academic skills. I have travelled a lot and gained great friendships (especially with the Canadians)!"
Chastity D Brandeis University
"I was able to adjust to a new culture and experience a totally different group of friends than I'm used to at Brandeis. The Scottish people are friendly and wonderful, as are the international students who I lived with. The academic system was certainly different and took some getting used to but I learned something new and in..."

"I learned so much, not from classes and lectures, but from living in and experiencing South Africa. Living with host families did a lot for my understanding of the various cultures of South Africa."
A student Brandeis University
"The best things that I got out of my study abroad experience had little or nothing to do with my classes or my program. The best relationships I made were with other people in the city who I met through walking around, and doing things I loved to do. "
