University Information
The Office of Study Abroad supports Brandeis students who participate on any of our 300 approved programs in some 65 different countries around the world.
On average 40% of the junior class studied abroad during the academic year while still more students took advantage of various international opportunities in the summer. There is a huge diversity of transformative experiences that Brandeis students have engaged in abroad including studying biodiversity conservation hands on in Panama, conducting ethnographic research on sacred figures in Mongolia, interning with Parliament in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and interning in special education classrooms in Sydney, Australia to name a few.
Whatever your story, journey or adventure is destined to be, come by our office to learn more about the steps to going away!
Additionally, by logging in to Abroad101, all approved programs will be tagged with an "Approved" badge.

"I gained perspective on my privileged life, insight into one of the worlds most tragic conflicts (The Occupation of Tibet), friends that share my world view, exposure to the beauty and reality of rural Himalayan life. It was certainly worthwhile"

"It was most definitely worthwhile. I gained some new friends for life and many valued experiences that taught me a lot about myself. It is strange which values one clings to when they are directly challenged by the society around you."

"Met new people, saw new places, experienced a new culture. It was absolutely worth it and is something I will always treasure. It was a once in a lifetime experience. "

"How to interact with locals, how to adapt a new culture and participate actively in a life that is foreign to me. I accumulated some knowledge about my marketing- the field of my interest and did an internship in Disney London. That was a great experience overall. It's absolutely worthwhile to go study abroad in London. "

"I gained so much abroad--greater independence, greater appreciation for other cultures and religions and world views. I'm less afraid of the unknown, of Turkish toilets, of dirty things. I've gained a love of bargaining and Moroccan spices and espresso. I've gained friends--American and Moroccan--with whom I am determined to ..."

"Incredibly worthwhile!!! I became so much more independent after studying abroad, and met so many interesting people. At first I was quite shy, but it got better after meeting some people! The classes were the least part of my experience, peehaps unsurprisingly."
Rosanne Brandeis University
"While most Americans became really close with other Americans abroad and they traveled together and took really cool photos all over Europe, I chose to join a sports team instead. While this took up much of my time, it was most definitely worth it. I feel that I made lasting connections with local students through the team and..."

"Being abroad teaches you that no matter who they are or where they are from, all people have a lot in common and enjoy the simple pleasures in life. It also teaches you independence and gives you confidence in new situations. New Zealand gave me a real love of adventure and forced me to do things I never thought I would. "

"I liked having the opportunity to take what we had learned in class and apply it to the real world with study tours. Visiting other countries with my core class was an amazing experience. It was worthwhile for the reason that I was able to learn more and different things than I have at home. I like learning and experiencing othe..."
