University Information
The Office of Study Abroad supports Brandeis students who participate on any of our 300 approved programs in some 65 different countries around the world.
On average 40% of the junior class studied abroad during the academic year while still more students took advantage of various international opportunities in the summer. There is a huge diversity of transformative experiences that Brandeis students have engaged in abroad including studying biodiversity conservation hands on in Panama, conducting ethnographic research on sacred figures in Mongolia, interning with Parliament in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and interning in special education classrooms in Sydney, Australia to name a few.
Whatever your story, journey or adventure is destined to be, come by our office to learn more about the steps to going away!
Additionally, by logging in to Abroad101, all approved programs will be tagged with an "Approved" badge.

"I did a gap year in a small village in Ecuador, so I'd already seen one side of Ecuador, and I figured that going to school at Ecuador's most prestigious/wealthy private university would be very different. It was. I came into the USFQ program thinking I was going to manage to get out of the American bubble that's so common in s..."

"I gained a better perspective of the every day life of the Japanese and how tradition and culture are integrated into modern day life. I also improved in my Japanese listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to a 3rd semester level. From what I academically and culturally learned to the friendships I made with local, inte..."

"I learned so much about myself and became a person I am really proud to be. Ghana is such a special place, the people are kind, hospitable, and free. I love Ghana! "
Riki G Brandeis University
"I learned how to inhabit my discomfort, dismantle and reshape it. I learned that in its unwillingness to make exceptions the process of adjustment would demand growth in ways I couldn't have anticipated. I learned what it meant to take risks that were significant to me, and to live vividly. I learned how to care better, and out ..."

"I learned to be so much more thankful for the little things, and came back with a newfound appreciation for nature. I realized how challenging it is to feel like an outsider, but also how welcoming people can be. It was honestly the best thing I've ever done so far, and I wouldn't change it for anything."

"I discovered what I like. I felt that I explored the world by going to a country that is so far away from home, thus learning a new culture. My internship provided me with a big line for my resume, and the courses that I took in Sydney opened up my mind in many ways."

"I learned (however corny it may sound) that I can do whatever I put my mind to. If I can master the art of communicating in a foreign language with people who often don't speak (much) English in both social/casual AND professional environments, I can do anything."

"I gained a new perspective on life. I realized how much joy, laughter, and happiness I could have with friends. I realized how big the world is and how much I have not seen. I strengthened my language skills. I learned that I can be independent. I learned that I am comfortable with being an adult. I learned that Japan is the cou..."

"I learned so much about the reality of poverty and inequality in Cape Town, but also generally in the world. I saw and experienced and learned so much! There were many difficulties and challenges with disorganization and difficult program staff to work with, however it was certainly still worth while. However I think that unfort..."

"I learned to be much more independent. I am thoroughly in love with Tel Aviv and am so grateful for the opportunity to have started an internship I loved and meet really wonderful Israelis. Though I didn't love the program itself, I am glad it afforded me the opportunity to be in Tel Aviv as a student."
