"It was absolutely worthwhile! I can't even begin to list what I learned abroad. History really did come to life for me over there; I especially gained respect for those who fought in the wars. Just seeing all the destruction that was around the city left over from WWII gave me chills. "

"I learned a lot about culture and about myself. If you don't CHOOSE to get out and do what you want, you'll run out of time. Now that I understand more of the language and more about the culture, I'd be able to communicate better and not have people afraid to talk to me because they fear they won't understand me..."

"I learned how important it is for children to have parents or a guardian be there to provide the necessary developmental progression that a child needs. For example, children need stimulation in their brain that many of the kids we worked with were not getting. Most of this stimulation can occur simply by giving the child attent..."

"This was the most incredible experience I have ever had. I learned about people living a different way than I do and learning to see the good in their culture and the good in mine in different ways. I am more able to understand my native culture now that I saw theirs. I loved living somewhere rather than just being a tourist. I ..."

"I learned so much about the world, my country, their country, and myself. I wouldn't trade what I experienced for the world. I love the people that I met and what I learned from them. It made me appreciate my life and country so much more but also taught me that I can learn from everything around me. "

"It was very worthwhile. I gained knowledge of history, culture, customs, and most of all language. My eyes were opened to the experience of millions of people who live in a very different way than I am accustomed to. I gained empathy, and patience with others."

"What didn't I gain? I gained a greater sense of independence and confidence. I learned to love Italian culture so much. I also gained a great appreciation of art. I also learned how much more important quality is than quantity. For me the biggest thing was learning to appreciate the little things. In Italy you really slow down a..."
