• Study Abroad: A group of students live together and are led by on-site BYU faculty.
• International Internship: This is an independent, work-oriented experience. (BYU students only.)
• Direct Enrollment (Student Exchange): A student enrolls at a contracted university overseas while paying only BYU tuition. (BYU students only.)
• Field School: This is a hands-on research-based cohort experience abroad.

"I learned so much about England and gained a love for all of it's history and culture. You also learn a lot about yourself when you are isolated in a foreign country with students who you don't know very well. I highly recommend having this experience!"

"I gained tons of research experience, interviewing experience, a chance to see life changing "real" poverty, compare the difference between two countries, to see how minorities are treated, to learn many new aspects of a culture and people I had previously spent 3 years studying and living with in the US."
Richard G Brigham Young University
"The best way to enjoy your time is to surrender. You aren't going there to be the same person. The land and people will change you for the better if you surrender. I learned how to surrender and love things that I wouldn't naturally be drawn to."
Paul P Brigham Young University
"I learned a lot about Ghanaian culture and about music, both drumming and dance. There were a lot of great people in the village and who went on the program, and it was very worthwhile."
Stephanie L Brigham Young University
"I learned that people are similar wherever you go. They have very similar problems and similar concerns. However, I was able to learn how historically people have dealt with those problems and how that has affected us today. I learned more about culture and attitudes than I would have just reading about it because I learned i..."

""Was it worthwhile?!" Of course it was worthwhile and life changing. I never wanted to travel abroad until i got back from my mission in Toronto Canada. I realized upon my return that you learn SOOOO much simply by traveling (and i was only in Canada for heaven's sake!) Had I not been with the study abroad group, i would have le..."

Taylor Z Brigham Young University
"I realized that french is not just something to study. In fact, it became much less and much more than that. It is just a background, a base for people's lives, yet it is also a form of communication that can link you to millions of wonderful people. I also learned that life is an adventure. Take advantage of every opportunity t..."

"I gained a love and a knowledge for Scottish and Irish culture, a love for the freedom of travel, an admiration for people of various backgrounds, and an understanding of the importance of my home in my life. veronica.destro Brigham Young University
"I really felt that we got a good mix of being in the culture and being able to be tourist and see a lot of places. We lived in dorms for a month in Shanghai and I really got a feel for college life in China and I was able to see a part of their culture that I would have never seen. "

Kevin J Brigham Young University
"It was something BYU couldn't have anticipated and something a person couldn't plan for. It was both great and terrible. I learned to do further research and to be more aware of exactly what I'm getting myself into. Though I wouldn't do it again, I would say it was worthwhile."
Bradley Thomas A Brigham Young University
"I learned a great deal about teaching, I learned how wonderful it is to connect with people of other cultures, I learned how fun it is to have dance parties with Bolivians, I saw examples of people who work so hard to bring about so much good in their community and I got to learn how they do it, I learned how wonderful teaching ..."
