GAP Year Students
University Information
"A gap year is an experiential semester or year "on," typically taken between high school and college in order to deepen practical, professional, and personal awareness. Gap Years originally started in the United Kingdom in the 1970's as a way to fill the 7 or 8 month gap between final exams and the beginning of university. The intention in the UK for that time was to contribute to the development of the student usually through an extended international experience." (Thanks to - https://www.gapyearassociation.org/)
At Abroad101 we encourage future study abroad students to consider any pre-college experience to get a jump start on their college or career and GAP YEAR is no exception. We've compiled stories of students on Gap Year, hopefully as inspiration. Please view Abroad101's directory of GAP Year Study Abroad programs

"I feel like I understand the language and the culture so much now and it has really changed my view on the global world. I would love to go on more trips like this in the future."

"After this experience I see that there are many differences between our culture and how others lived. It open my eyes to the way people live in different countries, and I guess you could say I've caught the "travel bug". I feel my Spanish has improved greatly, it was so worth it."
