The Humboldt-Institut s a non-profit association established in 1977 for teaching German as a foreign language. In the three-plus decades of its existence, over 60,000 students from 160 countries have taken part in the institute’s intensive German courses. From a single course center the Humboldt-Institut has grown to a network of 16 program sites throughout Germany. Ever since it was first founded, the Humboldt-Institut has grown steadily. Its success is based on helping support each student individually:
• An extensive placement test on the first day of the course determines the students' knowledge of German in detail, allowing them to be placed at the best possible level.
• In placing the students, the Humboldt- Institut does not make convenient compromises; instead, it tries to close gaps in the students' language skills, because the small linguistic nuances are what make the difference in achieving perfection.
• Weekly progress monitoring supports the learning process.
• No other school is faster and more efficient in preparing students for internationally recognized language certification such as the “TestDaF“ exam or the “telc Deutsch B1”exam (“Zertifikat Deutsch”).
• At the Humboldt-Institut a total beginner with no previous German skills can successfully complete the TestDaF exam in as little as 7.5 months.
• Courses at the Humboldt-Institut are taught in small groups averaging 8 - 10 participants by highly motivated teachers with outstanding qualifications.Courses generally cover 30 lessons per week (with one lesson equaling 45 minutes).
• Most of the schools of the Humboldt-Institut are residential schools, which enhances not only the learning process, but also the enjoyment of the common experience.
• All prices are transparent, as course fees include tuition, teaching material, accommodation, full board, leisure time activities and excursions for most of the course centers of the Humboldt-Institut.
