"A more cosmopolitan view of the world and a third person view of what america is really like/seen as."
A student Middlebury College
"It was academically stimulating, but it is unfortunate that we were not able to live/learn with local British students. We only mingle with around 22 other American students who are also participating in the program. That said, I am extremely grateful to have met some wonderful and inspiring tutors in my program."

"The education was very useful and interesting in the sense that it was presented in a different fashion than usual. Usually, a course about Modern History would aim to envelop a more American-centric focus; however, it was interesting to be in courses where America was not even mentioned once. It was very worthwhile to see this ..."

"It was definitely a worthwhile experience. I never would have been able to conduct research in Africa if I had not participated in this program. I saw so many amazing things."

"I learned that Scottish culture is not as different from American culture as I had expected, but that the way that we learn and the expectations of independence are. Yes, it was worthwhile."
Madeline M Middlebury College
"Studied abroad my entire junior year. Being one of the best universities in the UK, St Andrews not only contributed to my academic development but also gave me a relevant experience in communication with a broad range of individuals from different cultural backgrounds."

"Perspective. I definitely gained perspective more than anything else. Coming back to Middlebury I was excited about my education for the first time since my freshman semester and I was well rested enough to step back and prioritize the things that I need and/or want to do. I can't say that I had any particularly world shattering..."

"New perspective, better understanding of a different part of the world and a different culture and history. "
A student Middlebury College
"I gained a new perspective on life and culture. After spending spring semester absorbing the European culture, my career and living plans have changed. There are so many "characters" in Prague that it seems like everyone is comfortable being who they want to be. Gender and age barriers don't exist as much. Social status and the ..."

"I learned a lot and became more independent as a person. It was my first time living in a foreign country without anyone that I knew. I was nervous to be alone at first but learned that if you submerge yourself in all that being abroad has to offer, you figure it out quickly!"
Lindsay W Middlebury College
"I learned a huge amount about ecology which has helped me direct my future career plans. Incredibly worthwhile!"

"I learned how to be more independent. I learned about different healthcare systems and cultures. And yes, it was worthwhile."

"Being in Nottingham taught me to search for self-motivation, persistence, getting things done with little or no help from the university. Most importantly, I have established a social life outside of the university. I met fantastic people though my job and now I think I'm somewhat ready to leave Middlebury, knowing that I can ma..."

"Going abroad was definitely worthwhile, but this program was not for me. It is only American students, and it is very hard to find your place within the larger university. However, I did learn from the experience. Though I studied in an English-speaking country, there are many cultural differences. I learned to adapt to my surro..."

"I can't honestly say that this was the most transformative experience for me. However it was a great time, I got to spend time in a country that I was unfamiliar with, and I also had opportunities to travel to other parts of Europe. I do not in any way regret my decision to go here, but I think if you are an American looking for..."

"What engineering is, how to network, the benefits of a research institution that's still a liberal arts school. How awesome and smart other dartmouth students are. What a supportive environment it was. "
A student Middlebury College
"Overall, being abroad was a wonderful experience and allowed me to experience so many things that I would not have otherwise had the opportunity to. Scotland is a wonderful country and I really enjoyed my time there, as well as all the St. Andrews students that I met and became friends with during my time abroad. Given the choic..."

"Power and privilege was a big theme throughout the program. Being able to visit the national parks and live in Arusha as a student and a tourist gave me very different perspectives. It was a challenging experience but totally worthwhile. As a political science student I appreciated my time in Tanzania where I learned so much abo..."

"I learned more about my capacity as a student and my penchant for learning. "
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a lot about myself in terms of how to overcome difficulties that I used to depend on others to help me with. NZ is a generally safe and easy country in which to travel, so I learned how to travel and hike alone which helped me realize that I could be more independent than I had been at Midd. This experience also helped..."

"I learned how to live up and do science research by myself in a foreign country. Most importantly, I was deeply touched and inspired by the professors here who cares about the environment deeply with their heart. To learn biology and conservation with these amazing people in Amazon and Galapagos? Of course it's so worthwhile!! "
