"Much more confidence in doing things on my own."
A student Middlebury College
"Definitely worthwhile. Learned to be more independent and learned about living abroad and all that comes with it. "
A student Middlebury College
"I fell in love with Sweden and learned a lot about Europe in general, but also gained a new appreciation for home sweet home (the USA)! My time abroad was totally worthwhile. "
Olivia F Middlebury College
"I adored the city of Copenhagen and ended up making lifelong friends. I saw so much of the world and experienced so many different cultures - it was truly the most eye opening experience I've ever had that I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life. I was more independent than I've ever been in my entire life - I lear..."
A student Middlebury College
"Totally worthwhile; a once in a lifetime experience. Learned so much about the relationship between America and foreign countries and I learned a lot about New Zealand culture. I also learned to be independent and entertain/care for myself for 5 months."
Daniel P Middlebury College
"Going abroad to Sweden was one of the best experiences of my life. The Swedish Program is a bit unorganized and not taking classes with Swedish students made it difficult to make close Swedish friends. Nevertheless, besides these few faults, I had the time of my life. For the most part, my professors were great, helpful, and int..."
A student The Swedish Program: Stockholm, Sweden
"It was absolutely worth while. I learned about the culture, about relationships, other people, and most importantly, about myself. "
Grace W Middlebury College
"I learned how to be an independent person and how to take care of myself. I also learned that it is important to make friends with the local people rather than just being friends with Americans only. It was definitely worthwhile but I don't think I would be able to live in Australia for a long period of time again. "
Rachel K Middlebury College
"I became much more independent and learned how to better live on my own and in a city. Was SO worthwhile!"
Vivian C Middlebury College
"I learned that I absolutely want to return to DC in the future to live and work. Furthermore, I realized that I probably want to go to law school at some point in the future. Therefore, it was absolutely worth it."

"Yes--very worthwhile. Even if you don't 100% enjoy the program you are on it is still amazing to live by yourself in a foreign country and a huge accomplishment when you make it through! "
A student Middlebury College
"I gained love and knowledge and real-life and academic experience I would not trade for anything. "
Jane A Middlebury College
"As it was my first international experience, I enjoyed every moment of it. Loved meeting people from across the globe and learning about Irish culture and lifestyle."
Dana T Middlebury College
"I learned more how to be independent in my studies"
A student Middlebury College
"Learned how to live on my own and cook for myself. Also lived in a very bad dorm room with three other roommates so learned I can live with anyone! Also learned how different the rest of the world is from America. Definitely worthwhile, but difficult. "
A student Middlebury College
"Still undecided on how worthwhile it was. I am glad I did it but am unsure I would do it, simply because of that month-long integral course and the nature of the program. I certainly learned a lot - the tutorial experience was invaluable and I am so glad I did it. But I don't think it was worth it's money's worth."
A student Middlebury College
"Studying abroad was valuable in that it allowed me to take classes within a different educational system. The courses were challenging, and I feel that I learned from the experience. "
A student Middlebury College
"I definitely learned a lot more about myself. I learned more about what I need to do to stay happy. I also came to appreciate my home and Middlebury a lot more, while also seeing some of the flaws of home. It was definitely, without a doubt worthwhile."
A student Middlebury College
"I feel like I grew as a person a lot. I feel like I gained a greater independence and a knowledge of a new city. I know a lot more about europe and the uk. I am more aware that I should be more attentive to world news not just the us news. I feel like I grew up a lot. I learned money management. It was very worthwhile. "
amplax17 Middlebury College
"I became more independent and loved the experience of living in a European capital city. Copenhagen is a wonderful city to live in. "
A student Middlebury College
"I feel like the academics made it worth it, as well as being in the city of Oxford, which is beautiful"
A student Middlebury College
"Absolutely. Studying under the 'tutorial system' is worth the experience alone."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a lot about Namibia and conservation but I also learned a lot about myself. It was worthwhile but it wasn't always easy."
A student Middlebury College
"Definitely worthwhile. I wanted to study abroad because I wanted to travel and I definitely accomplished that. DIS provides a lot of opportunity to travel. In addition I made friends from all around the US which is a very cool thing. "
