"Oh my god. I can't answer this question in just one box. You'll have to contact me and we can hash out stories. I refuse to abbreviate all of these life shaping experiences into one teeny tiny box. No, thank you. "
Jessica F Middlebury College
"I learned how to live on my own for the first time, and I saw/did things that I will never see or do again. Worthwhile is an understatement."
A student Middlebury College
"Yes it was extremely worthwhile, mostly the area, city and people, but also the program. Most other classmates are all college graduates and all they want to do is intensive chinese, all the time. If your agenda is slightly different than this it may be strange, but it can still be an amazing experience in an amazing country/"

"Definitely. Gained a lot of perspective and understanding about what I want to do with my life. Gained a ton of new friends who I'll now see every time I go home for break, and just had a great time. Coming back to Midd, I'm so happy and excited to be going back, but with a fresh perspective. It had gotten a bit routine last fal..."

"It is hard to write what I gained/learned from my experience abroad as I feel for awhile I will be figuring that out slowly. I learned a whole new language and culture. I learned people's stories. A student Middlebury College
"It was definitely worthwhile. Academically, I've gained experience doing more personal research, for assignments and to just become more knowledgeable on a topic. Personally, I've gained more self-confidence in myself and my abilities. "
A student Middlebury College
"It was definitely worthwhile, and I got a lot out of it. While I've studied at different places/countries, going to the UK was very different from anywhere I had gone so far. I learnt a lot about British culture and loved experiencing it; I loved travelling around the UK and made some great friends at Nottingham. Not taking acco..."

"It was worthwhile, but not in the ways I expected it to be. I expected to learn a lot about biology, conservation biology, field methods, and the culture of Botswana. In the end, I experienced a lot more personal growth and learning. I learned how to work with difficult people and get along with people who were very different fr..."

"I gained a much better understanding for how people in developing countries live and how perceive their situation. Personally, I think it is an essential experience to see how a huge portion of the world lives, which is the kind of experience you will get in Mali. It is so worthwhile to learn about other religions, cultures, and..."

"You can't really sum up what you "gain/learn" on this program in a little text box on an internet survey, but at the most basic level, how to be flexible and go with the flow, and to chose what is right. So incredibly worthwhile."
Annika S Middlebury College
