"I learned quite a bit of Danish and how comfortable I am living in a foreign country. "
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a new system. Had immense academic rigor. Made great friends. 100% worthwhile."
A student Middlebury College
"A full year abroad is a much better experience than a semester. You have the time to invest in relationships and make life long friends. I don't feel like a tourist in London now and definitely have plans to live here again sometime after graduation."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned to be resilient, how to start with no friends in a completely new place and build a community for myself. Especially as a political science major, it was interesting to be abroad in the leadup to a presidential election and understand more about how America is viewed from the outside. "
A student Middlebury College
"I saw and experienced so much of New Zealand and its culture, and I expect some of the things that I learned will stay with me for the rest of my life."
Cole Hilscher Middlebury College
"I became more independent; I was exposed to many more American perspectives beyond those at an elite liberal arts institution; I absorbed the societal values/perspectives of Danish culture."

"A little Czech and a lot of fun"
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a lot about self-reliance and cooking. You have to adhere to a budget and you have to cook for yourself and likely others. The hikes and trips with limited phone reception was a ton of fun and you had to think on your feet a lot of the time. "

A student Middlebury College
"I learned a lot about independence, and working without being pushed. I also was put into an environment where I was able to deal with issues on a macro, advanced level - in contrast to how information is typically spoon-fed at Middlebury - which I think was immensely valuable. I made good friends in another country that I pla..."
A student Middlebury College
"I was able to meet countless amazing and resilient individuals that I would not have met otherwise. These individuals, whether I met them through my ISP or homestay, were able to teach me so much more than some of the lectures we had. It made it all worthwhile and was beautiful to hear their stories. "
A student Middlebury College
"Learned more about people from different backgrounds"
A student Middlebury College
"I learned about people's perspectives from far away. It was worthwhile."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a hell of a lot more about myself. I learned how to take care of myself in a foreign country, how to cook my own food, how to handle a trip, etc. I came back a very different person, for the better I think, even if I didn't particularly enjoy my semester"
