"It was great fun living in a new city and learning about its culture, history, language and people. I learnt to step out of my comfort zone to communicate and connect with people despite our differences. It was an amazing experience."

"Amsterdam provided me with great adventure. It was not only a beautiful city but it was also very manageable, the people were friendly, I learned a lot, I made amazing friends, ate good food, and was able to explore a good portion of Europe. I would recommend Amsterdam to anyone!"

"I learned a lot about IR and French. It was definitely worth while. "
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"Learned about how much exists outside of our spectrum. It's easy to forget that we are part of such a global community. The trip made me appreciate everything I take for granted in the US."
Benjamin J The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned so much about myself and what I really want out of life. All the ups and downs of the trip were completely worth it! "

"I learned so much from my time in Botswana, and I would highly recommend it. I loved my experience there."
Alexandra G The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned a lot about Spanish, period. And that made it completely worthwhile."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained confidence in myself, and I made friends from all over the world. I learned the value of travel while regaining an appreciation for "home.""
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained friends and the ability to look at things from a different perspective. Like I mentioned before, there is not only an American way to do things. My experience also taught me to take myself a little bit less serious, which I desperately needed. American universities are some of the best and most rigorous, which is great,..."

"Honestly it comes down to being reliant on yourself and confident enough to just throw yourself out there and not be afraid of making mistakes. It sounds easy, but at the end of the day it's much harder than you think. It was the best year of my life and I've already booked a flight to go back during break"
ryan m The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned a lot about the Mexican political system and Mexican society in general. I think it was all worthwhile and learned about different perspectives towards Americans."
Mauricio G The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned a great deal about the Italian culture and language, gained much exposure hands-on in both these categories, and found that I was able to acclimate rather quickly. This experience was worthwhile in that it taught me a lot about traveling while getting deep into foreign cultures, and inciting in me a travel bug for the ..."

"Learned where the holes were in my Arabic vocabulary base. Learned what a "developing country" looks like; what "democracy building" really means, how news censorship affects people; how an unstable region affects people like my politically conservative host parents and my friend, a Syrian refugee living in Jordan. To put names ..."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"It was definitely worthwhile. I learned to trust MYSELF and make decisions on my own. It was extremely challenging but very rewarding and I learned to see people for what they are -- people! Language-wise, I learned how to have a real conversation in Spanish."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"This was one of the greatest decision I have ever made and definitely worthwhile. I liked doing it my second semester junior year because it got me excited about going back to Texas for one more year and gave me a break. I also learned to have a better appreciation for world travel and how valuable it is to learn other cultures ..."

"Studying abroad gave me a new lease on life and really broadened my horizons and expectations for myself and my own life moving forward. I wouldn't trade my experiences and friends in England for anything."
Ben A The University of Texas at Austin
"My experience abroad was great and Buenos Aires is the coolest place to go. South America is very different than Europe but that is what makes it interesting. You can easily travel to Chile and hike or ski (in the summer). There are a lot of outdoor things to do. Buenos Aires is also a huge city with tons of city things to do as..."

"Worthwhile doesn't even begin to describe it. I had traveled to New Delhi before, but spending such an extended time there changed me forever. India is very beautiful, and full of so many contradictions. Sometimes people go to India and intensely hate it - the poverty, the filth. On the opposite end of the spectrum, sometimes pe..."

"Brazilian culture has this happiness engrained in it. I loved the whole lifestyle in Brazil- I definitely learned to be more positive and happy myself. "
Jhocelyn L The University of Texas at Austin
"I met amazing people. I got a unique perspective on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I visited places that are holy to people of many different faiths. I had an amazing time. "
Marisa E The University of Texas at Austin
"-sense of independence -decision to take Japanese more seriously Overall the experience was worthwhile, but not necessarily because of IES Abroad."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned that I can survive out in the world on my own and I'm capable of making friends from other countries without knowing the language fluently. I'm also way better with directions than my mom ever thought I was. It's exactly what I wanted and I've wanted to go to Japan since middle school."
Heather C The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned how to be open minded considering the students I went with."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"200 % worth while. I wish I could have done the program for an entire year. Met so many international people, not just students from the UK. I learned how to be an American in an international setting. I learned that everyone is different but in many ways everyone is the same. Friendships and friendliness are things that will la..."
