"It was totally worth it! I learned about the resilience of the older generation, and how determined this small country is to become a world power. Students are pushed hard by their parents to be the best, so everything is competitive; from beauty and getting hired to speed walking and grabbing a seat on the subway. "

"The best part was going to the neighboring countries. I went to Japan 3 times and China once. If I could do it again, I'd much rather go to Japan."

"Living abroad taught me how to be more self-sufficient as I didn't have the opportunity to talk to my friends and family back home that much. It was awesome getting to learn about a new culture and meet people from all over the world."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"It was definitely worthwhile in cultural understanding, but not as worthwhile as a semester at home in terms of developing degree-oriented knowledge."
Benjamin P The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned a lot about being on my own and independent, a lot about other cultures and customs, and a lot about myself. Clearly, it was worthwhile."
Reagan B The University of Texas at Austin
"Overall I learned to be independent and street smart. I really enjoyed the cultural diversity, music, and performances that London has to offer. I loved walking a lot in the city and the convenience of public transportation. There are so many new places to discover that you would never get bored! I would totally do it again!"
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"In addition to becoming comfortable speaking Mandarin and getting to enjoy the people and culture around me, I learned that improvement comes steadily with hard work and time. A positive attitude helps everywhere, and challenges are best met with a little initiative. I found benefit especially in communicating and socializing wi..."
Stephanie G The University of Texas at Austin
"I feel like anyone who visits and lives in a foreign country will tell you that their experiences are well worthwhile; it's hard to even express how my experience has impacted my life. I learned how it felt like to be an outsider and a minority, and be a different sort of member in a different sort of society. I discovered some ..."

"I definitely improved my German and I am happy about that, but it wasn't because of my living situation. I lived with a Host Family for 2 months before semester started and that was the best way! they were super nice and had patience. Also making an effort to eat with German local students who wouldnt change into English helped ..."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained a deeper appreciations or what it means to be a foreigner in a new country, the value of being able to stand on your own two feet, that people from all around the world are just individual opportunities to recognize how similar we are, show those people are going to be some of the greatest friends you could ever ask for..."
Alaina C The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned a lot about technical and fundamental analysis and how it pertains to the markets."
Sean K The University of Texas at Austin
"It was definitely worth while. Korea is a great place and people here in the program are nice. I gained a lot of great friends. I still keep in touch with some of them."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"It was worthwhile because I needed to Study Abroad in order to graduate, but I would rather have gone during a summer semester so that I did not waste so much of my time."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned about different cultural perspectives and had the opportunity to practice speaking German. Yes."
Anastasia D The University of Texas at Austin
"i gained a new perspective; yes"
Ron V The University of Texas at Austin
"The classes were interesting, and I learned much more than I ever could about the Japanese language, culture, and modern-day lifestyle. I'd say that the biggest success that I'm walking away with were all of the friendships I gained, and all the fun I had with the other international students there. We studied through painful bi..."

"The world is a big place with a lot of different things going on. What you need to find out is what is worthwhile and what isn't."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"Gained cultural knowledge and an international understanding. Yes it was worthwhile "
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"Definitely worthwhile, but it requires a certain type of student and personality. You really have to be on op of your work and balance your time while abroad. There was so much freedom with the program, so that could possibly be problematic with some people. "
Taylor F The University of Texas at Austin
"Studying abroad showed me what actually living and experiencing a country was. I had traveled to a lot of places around the world, including Australia, before studying abroad, but I had never stayed in a place for more than a week. Being immersed in the culture of Australia was a unique experience that I've never had while trave..."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"When I first arrived I was put through a bit of a trial... after 30 hours of traveling arriving to the dingy filthy apartment with no AC, internet, and lacked any access to contact anyone I knew.... I realized it would be harder than I thought. However through the little trials I was put through I learned a lot about my self and..."

"I learned to be open, to go travel, love unconditionally, and learned that money doesn't make you happy in the end. This was the best decision I have ever made."
Chris W The University of Texas at Austin
"I have made many international friends that I still speak to daily. I feel much more self-reliant and confident. I think that I would like to live abroad permanently. It was definitely worthwhile. "
Miranda B The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned so much about myself! It was such a worthwhile experience. I'm glad I did it. "
Miguel R The University of Texas at Austin
"My time in Argentina with Sol Education was a life changing experience. Between the people I met, the SOL directors, my host family, the daily activities within the city, and the weekend excursions I couldn't have imagined a better way to study abroad. Living within the culture by staying with a host family and taking university..."
