"I learned to be independent. There were only 3 of us in our entire group so we definitely learned how to be off on our own. Now I feel like I'm ready to take on the world! \m/"
Keila L The University of Texas at Austin
"Definitely gained incredible use of language and got to see a lot of really cool things! It was absolutely worthwhile, but you have to make it your own and put yourself out there, be willing to adventure!"
Michal J The University of Texas at Austin
"Independence and international exposure. It was worth every second. "
Brandon S The University of Texas at Austin
" The local students at Seoul National University are known to be very very hard workers which made my classes quite challenging. However, it was very fascinating to see and learn how eager they are to learn and also manage to have social life as well. There are so many things you could learn from the local students. Also, they h..."

"I learned that being abroad by yourself, without a host family to take care of you, is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I gained great friendships from people in Brazil and all over the world. I learned that giving someone your trust is not the same as having them trust in you. I learned to stand up for myself and speak ..."

"It was definitely worthwhile. It was a completely new experience, trying to get the most out of just eight weeks, especially during an "intensive" scholastic program. I got to see and experience an entirely different culture and learn a new language enough to be proficient. Making time to travel was difficult, and I definitely s..."

"I became more comfortable speaking Japanese. Even if I made mistakes, I kept trying. "
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned about Japanese culture first-hand. I learn how and why Japanese people think and act they way they do. It opened my mind to new ways of thinking and treating people. "
Stephanie O The University of Texas at Austin
"Not only did I improve my Japanese skills, I explored a good portion of the region and all of the "mini cities" within the giant city of Tokyo itself. I made friends from all over the world, one of whom is a Japanese student from Sophia who has come to UT to study this year. It was extremely worthwhile!!"
Britt P The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned about the Italian culture, but I also learned more about American culture. I noticed the differences between both cultures and nations. My class allowed me to explore the topics of beauty and art and religion and how important they are to human cultures. I also learned how to dress better. Yes, my experiences were wort..."

"I did so many things I would not have had the opportunity to do in the states. Meeting so many people vastly different than me made me more open minded. This trip was so worthwhile!"
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I was able to gain a more open minded outlook on things. I was able to see what everyday life was like outside the United States of America. I would say it was definitely worthwhile. I wish I could go back there right now. "
Benjamin S The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained a much stronger grasp of the Japanese language. While I am far from fluent, I was able to put what I learned in class into actual use. Being able to speak Japanese throughout the entire 3 day home stay program was exciting and rewarding. I learned a lot about Japanese culture, as well as the common misconceptions about ..."

"I learned so much about myself, the American dream, the pace/values of American culture compared to Italian. It was very worthwhile. I'm already trying to make plans to go back to Italy for an entire semester. "
Lindsey L The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned about the different customs in Europe and the different strategies that companies have to utilize when expanding internationally. I also thought the experience was worthwhile and something that I am glad that I did. "
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"It was definitely worthwhile. Sheffield wasn't my favorite city, but it was a good university, and I learned a lot by being immersed in a new environment. I was able to meet lots of people and travel to other places as well. I feel more prepared for future travel and interactions with different cultures. I feel like I've grown a..."

"learned to quickly adapt and integrate with different cultures. It was extremely worthwhile. "
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned and experienced a few new things about the culture, history, and politics there, however most of the study abroad was a waste. Except for the CIEE led trips, I feel I did not learn much about the culture because everything we did was with the other American students and the classes were useless."
Bethany W The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned how to immerse myself in another culture."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned what I find really important in my own life and I was constantly reminded by how much I love traveling. It was actually hard to go back to my program after my long traveling Easter break."
