"Hell yes it was worthwhile!"
Ely D The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned that people, while all very far from each other, are more the less the same. It was exciting to meet international studies who were very similar to myself and we all found something to connect about. "
leah b The University of Texas at Austin
"I saw a lot of scenery, and learned a lot about the culture, but the most valuable skill I gained was self-reliance. It helped me explore the less-traveled path with confidence, which ultimately enriched my experience."

"I became fluent in Spanish and learned about the Costa Rican culture. It was exactly what I wanted in a study abroad experience. It was everything and more that I imagined when I pictured myself studying abroad. The locals, not just the professors and our host families, were very welcoming of American students and wanted to h..."
Jenny P The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned how to adapt to a new way of life. It was amazing to be accepted into another family and exposed to their lifestyle, friends, and culture. It was extremely worthwhile to take Spanish classes, immerse myself in the Costa Rican culture with my host family, and travel the country with great people going to beautiful place..."

"It was absolutely worthwhile. I learned SO much about Chilean culture, latin american geography, I climbed volcanoes and glaciers, learned a lot about the Chilean wine industry, improved my spanish, and experienced earthquakes! "
Michelle M The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained/strengthened a lot of social skills while I was abroad. Being in a country with a completely different official language (you can't understand the people, the roadsigns, the menus) forced me to adapt and learn so much. I didn't realize it until the program was over and I was back in the United States. It was definitely ..."
Megan M The University of Texas at Austin
"I've said it once, and I'll say it again: my six weeks in Perugia were the best of my entire life. If I could drop everything and leave tomorrow for my little Italian apartment, I would. My career plan has even shifted to accomodate my return - I'm thinking about teaching English there after graduation. You'll be surprised how m..."

"It was extremely worthwhile. I gained a knowledge of an entire culture, many many friends, and a skill that I value a lot. To this day I keep in touch with 30+ people that I met there, and have plans to return to see them that I hold very dear. It was a fantastic experience, not for all, but definitely for me, and it was most li..."

"I learned a lot about myself and feel much more independent and competent now in unfamiliar situations. I learned a ton of Japanese, and really got a hands on experience in the culture. It's been amazing being able to really see how different and similar people can be living in a different culture. I would definitely do it again..."
A student The University of Texas at Austin

Kylee S The University of Texas at Austin
"It was completely worthwhile. Being thrown into a culture completely different from that of America's is something that can't be easily described. All the amazing things you will see and do, combined with the complexity of the culture and the simplicity of the local lifestyles is something everyone should try at least once if ..."
