"I made friends from all over Europe and learned about the vast differences between European and American attitudes towards a variety of subjects. Yes it was worth it, I can't explain how much more open-minded I am now that I've been to so many countries."
A student Wellesley College
"It was completely worthwhile because I learned more about myself and about learning, but I felt that this was more from personal development from my own initiative than from the academic program itself. After this semester, although I learned much from it, I felt I could have made more use of my time by choosing a program more t..."

"That while other cultures may appear to be similar to ours, the people's mentality and hospitality can differ tremendously."
A student Wellesley College
"I learned that I am capable of striking out on my own and growing comfortable in a new environment. I was able to see that the developing world is not as far out of reach as it seems and I loved the chance to learn about human rights from a non-western perspective. The overall experience was certainly worthwhile. "

"Studying abroad in always worthwhile - whether it was a positive or a negative experience. I learned a lot about myself, I became really interested in international affairs and I improved my French. "
Marisa M Wellesley College
"I had a wonderful connection with the other students on my program. It was worthwhile to visit this area of Brazil and get to travel around the Northeast. It was a worthwhile experience, but I would have wanted a program that gave us a better idea of safety, allowed us to voice complaints about host families, and gave us more co..."

A student Wellesley College

A student Wellesley College
"It was definitely worthwhile. Being able to travel around Europe may have been the most valuable- I learned a lot through my travels. I had a few superb classes in which I learned a lot too. "
Ace W Wellesley College
"I gained a wider perspective on the world and also learned a lot more about myself. The course of events certainly did not turn out the way I had expected them to, but the experience was invaluable."
A student Wellesley College
"Most definitely. I believe that by the end of the program we were all wishing that it could have been twice as long. We managed to get so much in that short period of time. There is nothing better than waking up to a symphony of birds, of walking from your cabin and seeing a family of pademelons (little forest kangaroos), and ha..."

"I improved my Spanish, learned a lot about Spanish culture, got to experience living abroad, made new friends, and had a really fun and relaxing semester. It was definitely worth-while."

"Absolutely worthwhile. Changed my perspective entirely."
Camilla M Wellesley College
"I have never been so aware of my identity as a female because of the strict gender roles, numerous street comments every time you walk down the street, and the way I was treated by male informants during my research process. I learned so much about Islam and the situation in North African countries. I learned so much about m..."
Kelly K Wellesley College
"I learned how to be independent, shop for myself, cook for myself, navigate a foreign country and adapt. It was worthwhile to learn so much. "
A student Wellesley College
"Not only did my French vastly improve in terms of comprehension and fluency, but I also gained a greater understanding of French, and also European, culture and mindsets. As a studio art major, I was able to see in person many great works of art that I have studied in previous years. Every studio art or art history major should ..."

"So many things about myself....but really that the world is such a big place...i also learned the influence of America, it was shocking "
A student Wellesley College
"I gained definitly a different perspective after living in a country that wasn't predominantly Christian, where I was the minority. I felt that cultural experience was worthwhile, but I wished I was able to use my Arabic more often."

Rachel S Wellesley College
"My experience abroad was incredibly worthwhile, and has inspired me to want to live abroad in the coming years. I learned so much just from being on my own in a foreign city. I gained a lot of insight from being in the middle of the city and getting to experience all of the culture. "
