"I learned the limitations of my interests in the Arabic language itself. My love of the culture and history took a backseat to the language pledge, which I knew going into the program, but had not fully thought through. "

"Learned quite a bit about my privilege as an American who attends a liberal arts school in a safe town--it is amazing that as a female I can walk outside after dark and feel safe (not true for so many women in Cape Town). Also opened my eyes to several aspects of white privilege that I had never considered before. "

"I learned a lot about Taiwanese culture whilst improving my Chinese at the same time. I discovered that I could safely live on my own in Taiwan. It was definitely a worthwhile experience, I would love to go back."

"It was worthwhile in a sense and not so much in others. I wish I had more support but I think the lack of it was a silver lining because it allowed a lot of time for myself and I really got to know my strengths and capabilities and forced me to confront myself in hard situations. "

"Language skills, learning about the culture, traveling."

"Definitely gave me a taste of what a UK college would have been like for me. It was far too short to fully integrate, however I feel as though I got what I wanted from the program itself. "
Brodie M Wellesley College
"I gained a newfound confidence in my ability to adapt to different situations, and also the savoir faire to navigate large cities. UCL pushed me out of my comfort zone in terms of it being such a large institution, but I was able to navigate the school without feeling lost or disconnected. It was very worth it, and I've decide..."

"I loved delving deeper into Japanese culture, particularly with a city as rich in tradition as Kyoto. While the program has its weak points along with the strong, I felt that I improved my Japanese, gained a deeper appreciation for Japanese culture and fell in love with the city of Kyoto."
Emily S Wellesley College
"I gained self-confidence. i faced many challenges while studying abroad and the fact that I managed, in the end, to find a way to succeed makes me feel prepared to deal with future challenges confidently. I learned to pay more attention to my feelings. I also learned some stress-management exercises. I gained experience away f..."

"I matured a lot and gained independence being abroad. At the LSE, the academic and administrative system is very different from what I'm used to in the states and at times I felt like nobody really cared for you. However, this pushed me to adopt this "solve your own problems" mentality and gave me more confidence as well. I trav..."

"London is a wonderful city, and of all my experiences over the year, the only thing that made me pleased with my decision to study abroad at UCL was being able to spent the year wandering London. Walking through the parks, exploring museums, and setting off with an end destination in mind without having plotted a course (getting..."

"I learned a lot about Spain, in a special way through living with a host family in a vibrant and accepting small city. It was definitely worthwhile. PRESHCO is very well put together program--they think of everything! And lastly, Cordoba may be one of the best, if not the best, place to study Spanish in Spain because Spanish is ..."
