It was definitely worthwhile. I gained a lot of independence and confidence. I got a lot better at meeting new people and making friends with people who are from a different culture than me. Finally, I also loved traveling - I'm definitely inspired to adventure more in my backyard and want to go abroad again somewhere else. - Middlebury College View Entire Review

Studying abroad in Dunedin was definitely worthwhile! I was given the opportunity to explore and have fun without the typical stress of a college student schedule. It's better to treat it like you've just moved there than to treat it like a vacation. I believe I got more out of the experience because I tried to create more meaningful relationships with the people. - Middlebury College View Entire Review

Definitely worthwhile. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
I had a fabulous time learning to navigate around New Zealand, fully embracing my outdoorsy side, making new friends, gaining confidence travelling alone. - Middlebury College View Entire Review
If I had to do it all over again, I might pick a place with sunnier, warmer weather where I could do outdoors things all the time and there was a bit more cultural difference. If you don't really wish for rich culture, want to live in a small town, and don't mind constant rain, go to Dunedin! - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review

About

The University of Otago is New Zealand's first, established in 1869 in Dunedin City, the wildlife capital of the country. Otago has campuses throughout the country, in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Invercargill, while Dunedin’s main campus is recognised as one of the most beautiful in the world. Nestled within Dunedin’s gorgeous scenery, Otago is enveloped by nature and is on the doorstep of many of New Zealand’s famed natural environments – with the South Island travelable in a day. For the adventure seeking study abroad student, Otago makes the duality of study and travel highly appealing and accessible.

Dunedin is Australasia’s only true student city, and provides an unmatched residential campus lifestyle. More than 20,000 students live, work and study in Dunedin city, maintaining a highly social and lively student community. Experience a true “kiwi” student lifestyle and live alongside local students in the suburbs surrounding campus. Many study abroad students move into the University Flats (UniFlats), which are fully furnished, totally integrated within the local student neighbourhood, and even come with a “Kiwi Host” student.
